Day of the Virgin of the Valley + Día de la Virgen del Valle [Eng+Spa]

Friday, September 8. I had recently commented to my brother that I already noticed that we had entered the final months of the year, because of the '-ember' that has each of the names of the months as a tagline.

I've been fine today, there's really nothing interesting to tell about my personal #life, in terms of work, I had a proposal for a small assignment, or 'tiger' as we call small opportunities on this side of the world of paid work, but today all that went down the drain, and I was surprised, because it seems that I got into some trouble without knowing it happened.

Anyway... better, let's leave the topic. Let's move on to comment on something more in line with a report of the day, such as the anniversary of #History that corresponds to today. There is a long list of commemorations, births and deaths; From all of that, I chose an anniversary from the religious field that has particular importance in #Venezuela: Today was the 'Day of the Virgin of the Valley'.

The Virgin of the Valley is a Marian advocation within the Roman Catholic Christian tradition. Of the advocations present in Venezuela, she is the most important in the east of the country, since she is the 'Patroness of the East'. In case we are not clear, an advocation (from the Latin advocatĭo) is a designation used in the #religious field to associate a particular identity of a religious figure with a locality or event.

In the Catholic tradition, the figure of the Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus (the Christ), has very diverse advocations, among these, in the case of America, there are several of them that have been left to us as a legacy from the times of conquest, European colonization and domination of these lands between the 15th and 19th centuries.

Actually, I'm not very religious, but my family used to be quite religious. I guess my choice of anniversary for today has to do with that part of #family history. My paternal grandfather comes from Margarita Island, where the #temple of the Virgin of the Valley is located, and where the dedication has been since 1542, the date on which a hurricane devastated the island of Cubagua (where the image of the Virgin was originally located) but the #statue was left undamaged. It was considered that remaining unscathed was a miracle and the image was transported to the island of Margarita, where it arrived at the church that was in the 'Valley of the Holy Spirit', hence, with the passage of time, this statue (which was called 'La Purísima', in Spanish this's 'The Purest') began to be known as 'of the Valley'. With the passage of centuries, and the tendency to relax confidence (something very typical of Venezuelan culture), this dedication was given the nickname 'Vallita', a peculiar affectionate diminutive. I remember her with that nickname, I have traveled little to my grandfather's land on the island, but I remember that the times I was visiting, the name Vallita was quite present.

I've taken a long time writing today, despite that, I feel like I'm low on inspiration today. The post hasn't turned out bad, it's just like one of those days when you feel like you've done the best you could, but it's not enough.
