My Diary on Sunday! | Alive and Thriving on May 11, 2025 | Extra (HIVE + Health) Titbits

Hi there. How are you? I hope you are doing great. Welcome to my short diary for Sunday, May 11, 2025!

We find many patients in our chambers with stress-related or anxiety-related issues. It's not uncommon for expatriates! However, one issue is also quite common in them: a lack of proper sleep! For example, the tailors work full night or till late night, especially during peak seasons such as before the two Eids! Most of the shopping centers close after 11 or midnight. Some people reach home way past midnight, then cook and eat, then go to sleep after 2-3 am. Many coffee shop employees go to sleep only in the morning! Some people can adjust to this altered sleep pattern while others cannot! On Sunday, one Imam (who leads prayer) from a local mosque visited me. His symptoms were consistent with anxiety-related disorders. When I asked him about his sleep, it revealed that he sleeps after leading the morning prayer on most days!!

Besides the above-mentioned patient, I consulted 27 more patients in my chamber. Alhamdulillah, there was no emergency cases! In the visa medical section, I examined some people as well who came for their fitness test!

At home, I could walk on the treadmill for 20 minutes before lunch and 15 minutes before sleep at night! This 35-minute treadmill walk helped me reach over 13k steps on Sunday!

Drink a glass of milk daily to keep colon cancer away!

Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers worldwide. Of them, colorectal cancer is the most common bowel cancer. In the UK, every year, around 44,000 bowel cancer cases are diagnosed. Roughly, every 12 minutes, a person is being diagnosed with bowel cancer! Previously, it was thought of as a disease of old age. However, in recent years, the rate of bowel cancer in people under 50 has been increasing rapidly! Experts predict that obesity and poor diet may contribute to this data!

Various research groups are studying the effect of different foods on bowel cancers. A large observational study conducted by Oxford University and Cancer Research UK found that individuals who consumed an extra 300 mg of calcium daily had a 17% lower risk of developing colorectal cancer. Drinking a large glass of milk daily provides this amount of calcium; other dairy products, such as yogurt and cheese, can also contribute to your daily intake.

The researchers analyzed the associations of 97 dietary factors with colorectal cancer risk among 542,778 participants of the UK Women. Over 16.6 years, they reported 12,251 new cases of colorectal cancer.

Good job getting back on the treadmill bro
I wonder if people going dairy free has increased the numbers of people getting colon cancer also i have noticed more people going dairy free that really don't need to due to intolerances or anything.
Wishing you a fantastic week ahead

Your concern matches the study result. Dairy product is the best source for calcium. As the study found the link between low calcium intake to colon cancer, those who avoid dairy products are indeed at risk of colon cancer!

Those who are intolerant to dairy products their issue is different issue! They should consume non-dairy calcium-rich food products!

Thanks for your support :)

It's important for individuals in these situations to find ways to manage their sleep and stress, perhaps by establishing a more consistent sleep schedule when possible or seeking professional advice if needed.
Addressing these issues can greatly improve overall well-being.

Exactly! Consistent sleep is quite important, even though nighttime sleep is not feasible sometimes.

Thanks for your comment.
