My journey so far: finding strength in every step.

Sometimes, when I sit back and think about my journey, it feels like a story I’m still trying to understand. I was born into a world that already came with its own challenges. My dad passed away just before I was born, so I never got to see or know him. Growing up in a family of five as the last born, life didn’t come easy. We had to struggle for almost everything, from feeding to school fees and even the basics. But looking back now, I realize that every hardship has shaped who I am today.

My biggest inspiration has always been my mom. She's the true definition of strength and selflessness. I honestly don’t know how she managed to raise all of us on her own, but she did it. Even in the toughest times, she remained hopeful and never stopped pushing. Her love, sacrifices, and the way she kept going no matter what, that's what keeps me going. She’s not just my mother, she’s my hero. She just celebrated her birthday on June 9, and every time I look at her, I’m reminded of how far we’ve come. I love her deeply and I pray every day that I’ll be able to give her the life she truly deserves.

Right now, I’m a student at Yaba College of Technology, studying National Diploma in Food Technology (NDFT). School has its own hurdles, but I’m determined to finish strong. I know where I’m coming from, and I know what I want out of life. While studying, I also work at a finance firm, Universal Insurance PLC, not just for the money, but because I want to build myself and be independent. Balancing school and work isn’t easy, but I remind myself every day that nothing good comes easy.

Aside from school and work, I also make hair. I may not own a salon or even have a fancy space to work from, but I’ve got skill. It's something I picked up naturally but i still enrolled in a stylist salon after secondary school to know more about it, and I enjoy doing it. Whether it’s braids, fixing, or styling, it gives me a sense of control and creativity. Making people look good and feel good is something that makes me happy, and it's a way I keep myself going when things get tough.

I am glad i joined the Hive blockchain community. It’s a space I never imagined I’d be in, but it’s slowly becoming something I enjoy. It’s a place where I can express myself, learn, earn, and connect with people from all over the world. As someone who has always had to find ways to grow without many opportunities, Hive feels like a fresh beginning. I’m still learning the ropes, but I know there’s potential in it for me, both in knowledge and financially.

Through everything, one thing I’ve learned is that thriving isn’t always about having it all figured out. It’s about doing the little things that move you forward, waking up each day and choosing not to give up, learning something new, staying grateful, and keeping your head up no matter what life throws at you.

My life isn’t perfect. I still struggle, I still get tired, and sometimes I cry when it feels like it’s all too much. But I also laugh, I grow, I try, and most importantly, I hope. I carry my story with pride, the pain, the lessons, and the small wins. I’m still on this journey, but I know I’m not where I used to be.

This is my story so far. I’m not done yet, but I’m getting there, one step at a time.

All photos are mine.

It's amazing to read your story and feel the strength and determination you convey in every word.
You've been through so much, but you're moving forward with hope, effort, and gratitude, which is very inspiring.
Your mother must be very proud of the feisty and resilient person you are, and I'm sure you'll achieve anything you set your mind to.
Thank you for sharing your journey.

Cycling is a good form of aerobic exercise. Regular cycling has been associated with a good number of health benefits. It reduces stress, improves heart health, promotes weight loss, reduces the risk of DM, and some cancers. A recent study shows that in minimizing dementia risk, regular cycling is more effective than other forms of aerobic exercise (e.g. walking).
