We All See Art Differently.
Honestly, I just don't think that there is anything like a bad art, Hi everyone, welcome to another edition of the hive learners prompt talking about BAD ART. So art is not supposed to be perfect, it is just supposed to express something, You see, when an artist creates something, whether it is a painting, or a song, a dance, or even poetry, it is coming from a place of emotion or imagination, So you now saying that something is bad art feels like saying someone’s feelings or perspective is wrong, and that does not really make sense to me.
Yeah, I think people get it twisted sometimes, see they believe art has to look a certain way, or sound a certain way, or follow some kind of standard before it can be called good, but seriously if you really think about it, not everyone sees the world the same way, what looks messy or strange to one person might be deep and meaningful to another, you can look at one painting and see just random colours, but the person who created it might have been expressing sadness, chaos, or even peace through those same particular strokes.

I remember one time, I saw a painting online, honestly, when I first looked at it, I was like, Abeg, wetin be this one? It looked like the artist just splashed paint everywhere and called it a day, but then I read the description, and it turned out that the artist had painted it to represent what anxiety felt like to her, that thing humbled me o, like seriously I now had to look again, and suddenly it started making sense to me in a way, that is the thing about art, it is not always meant to be understood at first glance, see sometimes you have to just feel it, not just see it.
In Nigeria especially, we like to say something is bad if it does not meet our expectations, like if someone draws a portrait and it doesn’t resemble the person, we will laugh and say, Na who be this? but maybe the artist didn’t even want to make it look exactly like the person , shey you get? Just maybe they were just showing what they felt about that person, That is the beauty of art, it is open to interpretation.
Even music works like that, some songs you hear, and at first, you are like, what is this person even singing? but you just give it time, listen again, and you might realise the message behind it, same with spoken word or photography, Art is expression, and It is indeed freedom, see It is that thing that allows you to show what is inside without worrying if anyone will get it.
Okay now, I am not saying every piece of art is something everyone will like, no, far from it, some artworks won’t make sense to you at all, and that is very okay, but just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean it is bad, that just means that it wasn’t made for you, art connects differently with different people, what speaks to me might not speak to you, and that is just fine.
So I do think that we should stop judging art based on perfection or what we personally like, because sometimes, the most imperfect pieces end up being the most powerful, Art doesn’t have to be beautiful it just has to be real, Whether or not it is a child drawing stick figures, a singer with a cracked voice pouring out emotion, or a sculptor shaping clay in a way that doesn’t look smooth there is still something there and that is art.
At the end of the day, there is no such thing as bad art, because art isn’t about being right or wrong, It is about being true, As long as someone creates something with meaning, then it deserves to be seen, heard, or felt, maybe it won’t speak to everyone, but it will definitely reach someone, and see honestly, that is all that really matters.

It is not supposed to be perfect but expressive! You have to understand the person's message to appreciate art..
Exactly. That is just it.
I agree with you, sis. Everyone has the right to express what they feel through art; we are not meant to judge them
Yeah, different view on things
There is not one way of doing things. We get it done one way or the other. That’s for sure.
For sure we do
