Is Content Monetization Making Us Lazy?

Content monetization is one of those things that just started off sweet and innocent, like pure vibes, and somehow it turned into something else entirely, you see these days, everybody is a “content creator.” Even people who don’t know what they want to create yet have already downloaded CapCut and are waiting for inspiration to fall from heaven, and honestly, I don’t even blame them, the money inside content creation is real, content can pay rent, buy food, buy wigs, even fund enjoyment, So yeah, I get why people are chasing it, like... Who no like better thing?

Okay yeah.. but let’s be honest, the moment money entered the picture, things changed, before, people just posted stuff for fun, If you like, laugh, If you don’t like, pass, but now? Nah...People have taken this thing personal, one viral video can change your whole life, so everybody is trying to shock the world, and that’s how we ended up with some of the weirdest content I have ever seen in my life, Omo... People are doing extreme challenges, dangerous stunts, fake pranks, pretending to faint in public, all because views equal money, It is like the more outrageous the content, the more likely it is to blow.

Sometimes I just sit and ask myself, “Is this the same internet we used to enjoy?” because people now care more about attention than whether what they are doing has sense, Money has turned normal humans into full time performers, and the funniest part is that some people don’t even care if their content is harmful, stressful, or embarrassing, as long as it pays, they are ready.

Now the big question, has content monetization made people lazy when it comes to real work? In a way, yes… and no, so I will explain.

Yes, because some people now believe regular work is “old school.” They don’t want to learn a skill, build a portfolio, or even find a job that will last more than two weeks, they want fast money, and social media looks like the quickest option, You will hear things like, “Why should I stress myself when one video can make me millions?” And honestly, that mentality is becoming just too common.

But at the same time, content creation is not as easy as it looks, People think it is just to press record and smile, but no, the editing will humble you, Posting consistently will stress your destiny, trying to stay relevant is its own full time job, and not to talk of dealing with comments and trolls, So yes, it looks like an easy escape, but it is actually hard work when you are doing it seriously.

Still, not all content deserves to be monetized, like so you get, Some of the things people post now… please, let’s be honest, it’s not content, it is confirmed noise, you will see someone doing something outrageous and you are just like, “So this is what they are paying people for now?” Meanwhile someone else with actual talent is struggling to be seen, It is crazy.

For me, I feel like monetization itself isn’t the problem, It is people’s mindset, Instead of focusing on creativity, value, or even genuine entertainment, many people are now chasing shock value, and that is why it feels like social media is full of madness.

At the end of the day, I think content monetization is still a good thing, but it should not replace actual work or skill, If you want to be a content creator, that’s fine, but at least let your content actually have sense, Let it entertain, inform, inspire, or at least be something worth watching, And if you are just chasing money without any direction, the burnout will catch up with you.

So yeah, content monetization isn’t bad it's is what people do with it, that needs to be questioned.

I support that not all content is to be paid for, many people teaching one or two things there don't even know what they are teaching, some are just copying from other people or looking it on YouTube and taking it on tiktok just for view.

These days even people that don't have it in them want to go into content creation spoiling things and forcing us to consume contents with no meaning

Content monetization is good however not all contents worth monetizing. It would make someone lazy depending on how one looks at it but I have seen it impacting lives positively.

As ehh, is becoming crazy for content creators. You just reminded of what I watch where people do alot of things just to get attention because the more people watch the more money flows in.
Thanks dear
