That Time I Forgot My Class... XD
Humans aren't perfect. We make mistakes, and at times we forget things... be it intentionally or not.
I, too, had times when I forgot things. Though most of them were trivial ones and don't really affect my day or even my life in general.
Or wait? Is that really it... or did I just forget the times I forgot something so crucial?
If I were to dig within my memories and search for a time that I've forgotten something important, I wouldn't find a lot. However, there's one incident that stayed with me.
I've been working from home for the past 10 years. I own my time, which is a good thing. However, my job is the type where when I don't work, I get no pay.
I remember a few years ago, I was working every day. I haven't taken a day off for more than two weeks, so I thought I deserved some rest and reward myself a chance to do something I love to recharge.
I decided to take a day off from my main job and didn't open any classes that day. However, I actually have a special class scheduled at that time. (Aside from my main job, I have personal students I connect with.)
My excitement to take a day off got the better of me. I prepared some snacks and sat in front of our TV watching anime without a care in the world. It's my favorite stress reliever. When I'm too stressed or even when I take a day off because I got sick, anime is my ultimate cure.
I remember watching some animated films the whole day without checking my phone or anything else. I was already in a trance in my own little world.
Feeling satisfied after binge-watching some anime, I went inside my room and checked my phone. There were messages and calls from my student.
The smile on my face disappeared, and my heart almost stopped when I realized what I had forgotten. Time is of great value in Japan. They have this saying, which says Time is money., so they dislike wasting time. Thus, they're always so punctual.
There was nothing else I could do but apologize. I gathered my courage and told my student the whole story. I honestly told her what happened and didn't give any excuses.
Luckily, she was so understanding and didn't really mind it as long as I didn't do it again. She also laughed at how honest I was because I didn't give her any excuses and told her the truth. She has confirmed how crazy I am about anime.

After that incident, I always keep my schedule organized. I try opening classes at usual times and created an organizer for my classes outside my main job. (And I'm the kind of person who finds it troublesome, but I have to... XD). It ended up as a learning experience for me.
Until now, she's still my student. She has been one for around seven years now. Recently, she also had her 6-year-old son take my lessons. Which reminds me, I have to create some materials for him before our next class. hahaha
So yeah, that's it for my story. How about you? Are you forgetful?
Thanks for reading, and see you around! (^^,)/

It happens, teach. There were also times I didn't wake up from the alarm when it goes off. If you don't mind, may I know what company are you connected?
I work for Engoo. :)

I actually use Engoo material for my other students, both adults and a kid. I'm independent and not affiliated with any company. I work with three handlers: two Filipinos and their Chinese friend. Naka apply nako new company. Hopefully ma tagaan nako contract soon. hehe

Oh nooo I feel you! 😂 I also forgot something like that before. I was eating fishballs with my friends, having fun, then I remembered I had an online quiz! Since then, I always write things down. Forgetting is no joke haha!
For the love of fishballs... I'd prolly do the same with kwek-kwek. hahahaha
I understand your story, that we humans are not perfect, there must be something we forget
Thanks.. :D
Yes... and it's normal. :)
You could have everything planned out, and then one tiny thing would simply knock it off your mind and you'd forget all about it until it's too late. It happens even to the best of us. I guess it is what it is.
Yep... we can't bring that situation back, but we can do better going forward. :)
