Privatization we all know is when some government owned infrastructures or establishments are handed over to a private owned company to manage under some certain agreements or arrangements where by the the private company pay off the government and fully takes charge.

This question of what would the world 🌎 be like if things like roads and water were to be privatized brought back memories of some years back when the Lagos State government were collecting toll gate at some strategic places places around Lagos State. They built a toll gate at a place called 7UP Bus -Stop, a major entrance into Lagos State by every vehicle coming into Lagos and was collecting some certain amount of tolls. This very levy they said then is to help maintain all roads around Lagos, but it never worked out after few years because some group of persons were embezzling the fund.

And after few years later, they decided to hand the toll gates to private company to manage, it was also not a success due to how the percentage demanded by the government from the private company was too high, causing the company not to make their own profit to offset cost and pay salaries to their employed workers. The issue here remain reap off from the poor citizens because many who witnessed this happening and paid several tolls then said it themselves.

A government of a nation should know that there are sone certain basic necessities and resources that should be made free of use to its citizens no mater what ever its costing them to maintain it. This is why they are seen as basic and must be provided by the government of a country. These basics should include electricity (power), good roads, water and even some low cost 💲 houses.

Imagine where roads and water 💦 is handled over to a private company to handle? Haha 😂. We the citizens will look for a way to have wings to fry as regards to roads because the cost that will be charged by this private companies will not be here. And as of the water, I don’t even know what to think 💭. It will be a crazy thing to do.. How will I feel managing water at home when it’s necessary I use a sufficient amount in cooking and washing but not wasting it. Or that I have to pay before am allowed to access some roads when am a citizen in a country. This will be crazy 😜 and a pure reap off.

Although we all know how privatization works. If roads and water become privatized, the world 🌎 certainly will feel and see some changes on how things will be the other way round. These resources will be well managed but cost 💲 is were the issue will be because these are important basic needs and everyone needs these two necessities. In other words, we see privatization as a way to create more efficiency bringing innovation into the infrastructures as this will definitely help them make lots of profit. Private companies are always motivated to render better services because of money they will make out of them. One example in my country Nigeria 🇳🇬 is how the government privatized electricity. There has been constant power improvements generally but do you know how much people spends in a month? Its crazy, especially of how the pre - paid meter became by force to every building in the cities 🌆.

And right now the government are using the stationed boys at every bus -stop on the roads to be reaping the citizens off because these boys know as area boys keeps collecting fees from transporters after loading passengers at every bus - stop, and in turn the transporters will charge the passengers high fare making sure to cover what the boys collects from them. “This is a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul”. We don’t even know which is better now comparing government and privatization.

The government however does not even provide sufficient water around the country now because the government water board has since been caught off from many areas in the country. Thank God to the popular Bore -Hole that many has developed with lots of money 💰 they pay to dig and obtain clean water.

In conclusion, privatization works well enough better than the government management but how many people can afford the bills? Road and water as two most basic necessities in a country should never be privatized despite how well the private companies will manage them. We need freedom of movement and constant accessibility to water.
