I believe forgetfulness is part of nature of human beings since we are not machines that are programmed to process things continually and constantly. As humans we have tasks that keeps us busy at all times and the mind most times too, can just have focus on a thing that us a boarder making us to forget a thing or two.

And forgetfulness is not just basically forgetting an object we need to carry out a project or that appointment we did not remember because of how stressful our day might be, but sometimes as humans we want to forget issues, troubles and bad encountered memories that life has brought our way especially those that hurts 😔.

A few weeks ago I forgot to turn of the well socket of the cooking gas ⛽️ because as I was cooking 🥘, the power suddenly went off. And because of the need for the food not to spoil, my attention was focused on how to hurriedly change the cooking 🥘 into manual gas ⛽️. It happened then that after cooking, I did not remember to still of the socket to the electric gas. How dangerous this could be? And with absent mindedness, I bathed and left for for work.

Then after settling down to commence on the day’s activities, my mind suddenly went back to the house on the activities of the morning and what stress I encountered through electricity. This was when I became confused 😐 on if I did off the cooking gas socket or not. In fact I became afraid, full of anxiety 😟 for fire 🔥 outbreak.

Not that the cooking gas will explode since it’s electrical. All that will happen is that it will keep heating up the kitchen and the units in the pre-paid meter will drain completely. Or that it can affect the cylinder of the manual gas through the connected cable which might lead to leakage and cause fire 🔥 outbreak.

Tension gripped me that I immediately called my husband who might also have left home. But as lucky as I was, he was almost hitting the road and has to go back home from where he was to help me turn off the gas socket. Luckily too, power has not been restored back from the Ikeja Electricity ⚡️ suppliers. It was indeed a very stressful morning that disorganized my day.

These are part of forgetfulness that are dangerous and can cause us harm. And not that we are not careful to life, but some days are different from others making us to loose focus especially those that are caused by others, environment, emotions, economy and even our means of livelihood called work. The mind of a human is so big but with many things to handle.

What Steps Have I Taken To Avoid Such Incident Again?

Electricity ⚡️ is never a thing to be joked with rather its a thing that brings disaster if one becomes careless with it. With this very incident my husband and I have decided to always switch off the junction box that connected light into the apartment from the outside pole. We believe this is the best option and decision to take to avoid having reoccurrence of this very incident of forgetting to switch off the electrical cooking gas or any other that can be disastrous and harmful. And this has also always kept our mind at ease while out of the apartment.
