Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars

When I was younger around elementary school, I didn't really have any dream job. It wasn't until middle or high school that I had some thoughts of what I wanted to do as a dream job. I had two potential dream jobs that I was interested in. I'm someone that loves gaming and I'm sure that's clear if you've seen my blog posts and even back when I was younger I loved playing video games. With that being said, my dream jobs that I thought about when I was younger was either being a professional gamer or a game developer.

Well I've grown up now and I wasn't able to achieve my dream job. Being a professional gamer isn't easy because you have to be super good at the game. It would be like the equivalent of being a great football player like Ronaldo and Messi if you aimed to be the best of course. I did try to be good at League of Legends which is a 5v5 MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game that started around 2009. I started playing this game around 2013 and the highest rank I achieved was like high diamond which is still the top 1-3% players. This wasn't good enough because to get scouted you would ideally have to be in challenger which was in the less than 1% of players tile. I spent tons of hours playing this game and trying to get to challenger but I never made it and I don't even want to try to math out the hours I spent. In the end, I wasn't good enough and accepted that so I still occasionally play the game for fun.

As for being a game developer, I tried to learn coding and I even did study it at college but I never completed the course. It was a big difference between making the game and playing the game. I didn't really enjoy learning to code and I think you need to have a certain passion and ability to learn this. It's not for everyone and it wasn't for me.

So what am I doing now. Well I am now working with my father's business. I do part-time work doing administrative tasks with some event management for a business club. I also recently became an Online Marketing Lead Generation Specialist and bookkeeping for another business.

Aside from that I also do some side work like blogging here on Hive and investing/trading into crypto and web3 game projects. I am a Team Member of Racevalley which is an upcoming racing play to earn game on Hive. I am also the Assistant Game Master for Splinterlands in Balthazar Guild. I also help my friend manage his guild and play his accounts in Splinterlands. I want to say these are the jobs that were closest to my dream jobs in the past.

Now my dream is to be able to work full time in crypto and web3 and down the road start a business or invest in businesses together with partners. I'm still far from this but let's see how it goes. It's all about the journey; that's what makes it fun because who knows this dream may change as time goes on. This leads me back to my post title "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars" which is a quote by Norman Vincent Peale. To me, I think it's good to aim for a dream (the moon) but it's ok if we don't get there because we will still be at a good place (the stars).

So I went out at night to try to take a picture of the moon and stars but they weren't there so I drew them in

Thank you so much for reading. Comment below what's your dream job and if you were able to achieve it.

Being a professional gamer would be cool. But it seems that I will sooner grow on hive than I will grow my youtube channel. I only have 1 subscriber and I am barely getting any views. I still don't understand why some other channels who also do no commentary let's plays are getting thousands and tens of thousands of views from the same games I play. when again I only now started making different thumbnails for my videos so maybe that will help...

Perhaps one day you will become professional splinterlands player. Also I see that you already have about 1500HP so your account is growing nicely.

i know right being able to play competitive and get paid thousands of dollars for video games would be awesome.

As for youtube it's mostly marketing. you have to be able to hit your target audience and also your video has to be interesting/entertaining to them that's pretty much it. It's not easy but there's people that mastered that and the algo like mr beast. his videos are amazing i wish i could do videos like him lol. good luck for your youtube tho!

haha thanks for stalking my hive power lol. yea i didndt power down and prob wont until if there's bull run maybe poewr down and take some profits and use that to buy back lower.

I always loved video games, but also I knew that I wasn't the best lol! So I have never dreamed to be a professional video gamer. I went once to a Superstar soccer championship in the mall ( an old soccer game). I could classify in the group stage, but then in the next round i lost the game, but I was happy because I thought that I was going to leave sooner lol.

oh gold foil legendary. That just means you need to improve at the game. It's ok tho maybe you didn't like the game so it's ok not everyone likes it as it's more defi than a game at this point since that's what the team is focusing on

Living on web3 is the dream of many of us here on Hive, including me. The gaming is fun but game development is a task not a cup tea of every one including me . I love the computer science but coding is one I lacking eventide and here I am now a mechanical engineer lol

O.O I think it can come true for you. You are doing well here. Maybe after next bull run.. isnt mechanical engineering hard tho I think engineering would be harder than coding?

Yeah, game development gets extremely difficult as one would need to learn variety of different programming languages that would need to somehow combined together and what universities teach is by no means just the basic of the basics so if you find it already difficult, means that it was not for you. Good thing, you stopped early.

O.O you learned it? you seem like expert. Didn't know you studied game development saydie . maybe its time for u to start a game on hive?

Like I said before, that kind of project cannot be easily done with one person only, I could probably make some basic game but I would still need an artist to design the game and learn various programming language that was not taught in school to keep up with the trend so I most likely will skip on blogging. Just take Luke for example, its been a long time since he last made youtube content or we heard of him.

Sometimes it’s good to have more than one dream and in the end so far as you find happiness in your new dream then it’s ok. I’m glad you still have some game in you.

You are giving yourself a tough time while pursuing the dream along with playing an excellent role as being the kid of your parents!LUV
Well gaming isn't easy and manageable as still it needs full-time focus and economic resilience. What I am seeing is the illuminating star in the sky which is in the company of the moon I believe its brilliance will keep radiating.
