Creative Sunday: The making of beans cake (Akara)

(Edited)

Hello everyone, Happy weekend to you all, and it is another beautiful creative Sunday initiative from me.

Today I will be making (Akara) Beans cake, this is made from beans and it is generally known as "Ewa" in my native language.

I have said before in my last week creative Sunday that I don't really like eating beans because it cause me heartburn, but when it is used for something else, I can have it over and over again without getting tired of it.

If you notice last week I made use of beans to do moi moi which is known as (steamed beans) and today I will be making another food from the same beans. There are different ways of preparing beans if you don't like cooking it, and I will be preparing one way you can have your beans instead of cooking.

Ingredients used are:

Beans
Pepper
Onions
Groundnut oil
Salt

Procedure

The ingredients are not much but the outcome of it was so delicious, so let's get to work.

I measured 2 cups of beans and then poured a little bit of water inside to make it soft for peeling. After peeling the back of the beans I separated the shaft from the beans.

I added dry pepper, the reason why I used this kind of pepper is because I wanted it peppery and it is only dry pepper that can do that for me. I also added onions to give it a delicious aroma.

Then I blended it all together after that, I made use of a turning stick to mix it thoroughly before adding salt. You don't need maggi when you are preparing beans cake because it will only make it too sweet so I prefer making use of salt alone.

My pot was hot already so I poured my groundnut oil inside and then allowed it to get hot because if it is not hot the beans cake wouldn't float and if it didn't float on top of the oil it would burn, and I don't want that to happen so I let the oil hot a little bit.

I started adding my blended beans into the oil with a big spoon and boom everything is ready.

You can have it with different things like, bread, pap, custard and any other things you like.
Thanks for stopping by.

In this cold weather, I think this will make a lot of sense with hot pap.

Akara is a really tasty snack, a live saver for many on the street of Lagos.
