One Tough Decision
I feel like people don't realize how important having meats in our meals are. As a matter of fact, I grew up with the mentality that meats are rewards that we get for doing a good job, the good job in this case being to finish our food.
This is why the majority of us usually only eat our meats when we're done eating the food. We're getting rewarded. For me, it got to a stage where if I had meals like rice and the likes, and they weren't any meat in it, I end up not eating much or probably not eating the food at all, because there have been days when I've had to eat food that I didn't even want to eat, just because there's a huge chunk of meat on it.
So you see, the meat conversation is one that is very important to me and shouldn't be taken lightly, it is something I do not joke with and probably the reason I didn't first write on the topic when everyone else did, because it is a sensitive one for me. Lol
But, the question asks that if I was banned from ever eating meat for the rest of my life, if I would be able to live by it. Now, not to exaggerate things, the answer to that is yes, I definitely will be able to live without eating meat for the rest of my life, but it won't be an easy rest of my life.
But you see, if I had to make a choice, then I certainly wouldn't be making such a stupid choice. I love my vegetables, but I'm not a vegetarian, I do love to eat meat in my food and I doubt there will ever be a day when I just wake up, for no reason, and decide to make the stupid decision of deciding never to eat meat again.
But, the reason I said it is something I can do, is because if I find myself in a situation where eating meat becomes a danger to my well-being, like a serious health condition, I won't even think about it twice. Because for now, there's nothing I place above my own life, not even those good-looking, tasty, smokey nice of meat on a jollof rice.
So unless it is life-threatening, I'm definitely going to not stop having meats on my food.

Learned something new about you culture. Didn't know meat was so important there. Yes meat is one of the top consumables for us as well but there's no custom that deems any meal without meat unworthy. Doesn't it pose a problem for those who struggle to afford meat on a regular basis?
It does actually. Not necessarily a problem but sometimes meat becomes a luxury because some people can't afford it.
Thinking about a life without meat is not so difficult. I think that in the beginning time you may struggle a little but with time you will be used to with it. We are humans and are can adapt with situations.
Exactly my point. If I have to stop eating meat due to something serious, it won't be a problem for me.
