Life 101: Things that schools didn't teach me

Hello Everyone,

School is a very important place where we get knowledge, we learn to read and write, starting from pre-school level to University.

School has been a very great place to learn and be certified. For me personally I enjoyed school, I learnt a lot, school is not only a place to learn, it is a place to grow, meet friends and build relationships, wether career wise or more. As I look back on my school days, I realize that there were so many valuable lessons that I didn't learn in the four corners of the classroom. Although education provided me with a solid foundation in academics, it didn't quite prepare me for the real world. The real world here is the life outside school. Here in Nigeria we call it:
**The Streets**
The street is a very different place, a very cold place, in school, everything is being structured and balance wether discipline or Academics, but in Real life nothing is structured or balanced, don't ever expect the kind of pampering or attentions your teacher or friends give you in school to the Streets at all. The Streets don't care about you until you are successful.
**"For streets Nobody sends your papa!"** Is a popular quote, which means that Nobody really cares about you, you are on your own, your decisions and acts is solely your responsibility.
My first lesson from the Real Life is: People Never Celebrate you until you are successful. This is the Real world lesson I learnt in the streets. Until you are wealthy and successful nobody cares about you, but immediately you break even, you would be celebrated by even the people that don't know you.

Another lesson from the streets is;
Nobody is ready to help you, don't even put hope on anyone, not even your family members, this is because they will disappoint you.
Countless of time, I was in need of money for some of my school stuffs, I tried to call almost all of my family member, one of my uncle promised me, but failed me, I had to hustled, by doing some bricklaying work and Catering Jobs before I got the money.
Although School taught me how to solve complex math problems, but it didn't teach me how to budget, save, or invest my money. I had to learn these skills the hard way, through trial and error. Now, I make sure to prioritize saving and investing for the future.
Just imagine me doing Manual labour, and not know how to utilise my hard earned money. The Streets definitely have his own way of training you in the reality of things.

Another big lesson I learned from the street is that: you have to develop and manage your relationship.
Although the school provides opportunities to interact with peers, it didn't teach me how to build and maintain meaningful relationships. But in the Street, I had to learn how to communicate effectively, listen actively, and empathize with others through personal experiences.
School didn't teach me how to prioritize my mental health or recognize the signs of burnout. I had to learn how to manage stress, practice self-care, and seek help when needed. Now, I make sure to prioritize my mental well-being.

Another big Lessons from the street is to Be Resilient
School didn't teach me how to bounce back from failures or setbacks. I had to learn how to develop resilience, adapt to change, and stay motivated through difficult times.
Me as a perfect example, have been through a lot of failures and set back in Business and career, I managed them well, in fact I never can believe I would be able to handle those kinds of issues in my work place or business or career.

Finally a big lesson I also learnt from the street to Put God First, always be Ready to Learn and don't ever look down anybody in the street.
School didn't teach me how to be adaptable or flexible in a rapidly changing world. I had to learn how to pivot, adjust to new situations, and stay open to new ideas.

All these lessons are so important in my life, they made me who I am today, I found purpose and meaning through all these.

Here is my response to #hl-w176e2

Thank you and have a great Weekend❤️

Everything gets better with the passage of time. You should also have faith in your life. As time passes, your circumstances will change.

Everyone knows that whoever works hard will definitely get the fruits of his labor, whether he starts from the street or from a school.

If you do not work hard after doing anything in your school life, then life will lift you from the sky and throw you to the ground.
