What you do on social media can define your life's direction.

Hello, everyone.

Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. Social media has become the order of the day; almost everyone now owns a social media account, and there are many people on social media who feel as long as we are in the same space, then we are automatically mates, and for that reason, they talk to people anyhow on social media; they care less what the outcome of their actions on social media will be. There are also some who feel they cannot be traced, and so they do whatever they want or say whatever they want.

Once upon a time social media was one safe space, a space where the masses could go rant and complain about anything and everything, a space where there was actually freedom to say and do anything, but over time things have changed, and what was once considered a safe space is no longer as safe as it used to be. Those days no one cared about what you posted on social media, but these days even employees want to go through your social media account to see what you post and the type of things you engage in before giving you employment. As much as this is bad, a few advantages still come with it.

Today I can tell you for free that what you do on social media can either make you or break you. I have seen countless people who were elevated just by a single social media post, and at the same time, I have seen people who were ruined by a single social media post. Many people underestimate the power of social media, while many have seen what it can do and are milking the opportunities that come with it. Social media is no longer a safe space, as everything you do or say there is being watched. On Twitter, they have a saying that "the internet never forgets," and countless times they have proven that by digging up people's posts from the past; some of these posts are bad, and some are good.

I have also seen on Twitter where a lady was celebrating her new job but used some vulgar words and was replied to by another user telling her to mind her language, and her response to that user was insulting. The user that replied to her turned out to be a senior staff member in the same firm where she got a job. She lost the job just after she got it, and all this proves that the internet is not a safe space, and we all need to be careful about what we share on social media, as well as the type of posts that we engage in on social media. Try as much as possible not to share or engage in a post that will put you in a tight spot in the future.

Should individuals be judged by what they share on social media?

For me, I will say it is okay to actually be judged or punished for the ideas and opinions shared on social media. Your social media account is a representation of you online, though some people will claim that they live two different lives and their life on social media is different from how they live their life offline. But do you know that someone who has not met you can draw a conclusion about the type of person you are just from looking at your social media engagement? This makes it necessary that we stay real both online and offline. People don't need to meet us before they know us; they can conclude your type of person just from visiting your social media page.

We have freedom of speech on social media but it doesn't mean that we start to use vulgar words to some users in comment as it slso leave bad impression

Thank you very much for this contribution, freedom of speech does not mean we can say anything.

Whatever social media we use, it has some rules. If those rules are being violated, then the social media will give a warning in advance,But if the matter is about someone's image, because it often happens on social media that people spoil the image of others to improve their own image, whether it is a person or a company, in both cases the most important thing is to find out the matter completely and then do a deep study about it, only then can a decision be taken.

You've got quite a lot of points here, bro. Social media is not private, within split of seconds, the entire world can see what you shared, for me I think, such a space is not a place to be careless with words.

I have heard of people who posted some things on social media and they were traced and arrested. Although some of them were saying the right things but they didn't apply wisdom.

I agree with you, social media is another world, and the way we live in it also defines our personalities.

Sometimes even speed of light is not enough to describe how fast things travel on social media, and that makes it important that we are careful about what we share and say in the space.
