The little help that plays a vital role before the main help.
Hello, everyone.
I welcome you to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. Having a basic knowledge of first aid as an individual is very important, and when someone is having an emergency, instead of panicking and watching them suffer, you will be able to offer help no matter how small. I saw a post on Twitter where a user was proposing that students in both primary and secondary schools are not only taught the meaning of first aid but are actually allowed to practice it and see how it is done.
Many of us were taught that first aid is the emergency treatment a sick or an injured person receives before the arrival of the doctor or professional. This means that first aid must not be from a professional and can be offered by anyone, but it's funny how that was all. The user on Twitter proposed that students are taught how to actually perform CPR and not just taught the meaning of first aid, its advantages, and that's where it ends. There should be practicals where they are taught some of the basic things, like how to perform CPR, as well as how to stop bleeding by trying to put pressure on it.
I cannot help but agree with the user. I have been in an environment where someone fainted, and no one had a single idea of what should be done. Instead, everyone started panicking and shouting for help until people with an idea of what can be done to help the person that fainted showed up. Sometimes waiting for that long can be dangerous; when someone is in need of emergency attention, every minute and second matters, as in an emergency situation, a minute can change how everything ends, and a minute can determine if the one in need of emergency attention survives or not.
We all, both adults and children, need to have a first aid idea, and if possible, the kits should also be available just in case the need for it arises. Medical professionals are not always available, which makes pursuing knowledge about first aid, no matter how small, very important. You might not see it as a necessity until the need arises, or you might use the knowledge of it to save a life.
As we go about our day to day activities we cannot predict how things turn out and which experience or knowledge will be needed to see ourselves through the day, this makes it necessary to have as much knowledge and experience as we can lay our hands on. Many might not see the importance of having basic knowledge of first aid until a mild case escalates before you and you realize that if only you had some basic knowledge of first aid, you would have stopped the situation from escalating.
I don't have much knowledge of first aid, but I can perform CPR. I have tried it once, though it was a scary experience, as I kept thinking, "What would happen if she does not respond?" But in the end, she woke up, and to date, when I remember, I just smile. I also know the need to apply pressure on a wound or injury to help stop the bleeding and also how to use mentholated spirit and cotton wool to clean an injury before applying bandages.
I also have ideas of some traditional leaves and herbs one can add to an injury or wound that can help stop bleeding, and also what can be done to help a convulsing baby and stop them from biting their tongue, and all these have helped prevent certain emergency situations from escalating.
That stuff, CPR, is scary. I've been in a place where someone tried it, and I was so scared. Immediately I turned to a prayer warrior.
You got me laughing when you are walked about prayer warrior, at least you were doing something too.
Thanks for stopping by.

You are more knowledgeable than I am in the subject of first aid. I think that tweet you saw was to eradicate the mistake that was done to us in school.
If first aid won't be taught in detail and practically, then I think it's useless. I have been in a situation where people were in pains from accidents before me but couldn't do anything and I felt terrible.
It's completely useless oo,we were just taught the meaning, advantages and disadvantages and that was it,no real knowledge of first aid was passed.
It's the convulsion occurrence that left me handicapped one day.
I had no single idea on how to go about tackling the little girl and I became heavily scared until my mom appeared on the scene.
It's good we know all these things. It happens a lot
They always come in handy.
Thanks for stopping by my boss.
