Promises are sure to be made but not sure to be kept.
Hello, everyone.
Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. Over the years I have come to realize that a lot of people feel promises are just mere words, and they go about making promises without even bothering about how to fulfill them or how to go about standing by them, but the truth is that promises are not mere words; they are like commitments that must be met, and when you go about making promises without bothering to keep them, that only shows how uncommitted you are. Promises are not just words; if deep within you, you know you cannot meet up, then don't make the promise.
Some broken promises can leave the other person's spirit broken. The number of promises you have broken just shows how many times and how many people you have broken. You might not know it until you are the one at the receiving end. Trust me, promises might look like mere words until a promise is made to you. The hope, the peace, and the relief that come with knowing that help is on the way are something that words cannot describe. Then picture a scenario where you have all that I mentioned above (peace, hope, relief) only for the promise made to be broken. There is no way that will not break your spirit; there is no way that will not cause you to feel down and like hope is lost.
It takes a lot of courage to bounce back when certain promises are broken, I remember when I was down financially and needed financial help in my 300 Level, I had piles of bills to pay, school fee, text book, practical manuals to buy and so many other bills to clear, I am not the type that goes around asking for help instead I find a way to come out of whatever problem I am facing but this was entirely different because I looked left and right but saw that there was no solution anywhere and there was no way I could come out of the situation without getting external help as doing it on my own was impossible, I reached out to an uncle and a cousin, as always when you need help you must narrate your story to your said helper giving them reasons why they need to help.
I narrated my story and in the end they both asked for my account number promising to come to my aid and trust me when I said words cannot describe the feelings of knowing that help is on the way because that is exactly how I felt, I started to see light at the end of the tunnel, I had hope again but slowly the hope I had started to fade as two days passed and none of them had reached out to me or sent what they promised and they even stopped taking calls and reply to chats, instead they view messages without replying and I made the mistake of relaxing and hoping they would stand by their words and since they did not I had no other source and had to start from the moment I realised they were not going to come through to find my way.
I was broken; I felt like depression was starting to creep up on me, but I managed to find my way out, and I learned an important lesson: to never believe or have high expectations because a promise was made until the promise is fulfilled. Sometimes we try to keep a promise, but in the end we end up breaking it. Sometimes breaking a promise becomes inevitable due to unforeseen circumstances, and it is totally understandable, but reaching out to the person and letting them know you cannot meet up is better than just ghosting them or leaving them in the dark.
My brother I can imagine how high your hope must have been, I have been there before and I can relate to how sad you felt when you discovered they were not going to help anymore
Someone can not understand how it feels when promise is broken unless you experience it and am glad you managed to overcome the sad part of it all.
Sometimes people just say “I promise” without knowing how much they word carries.
A promise is like a commitment that should be met but many fail to understand that.
It's not good to rely on some promises because you might end up just giving yourself unnecessary hope
Relying on promises will leave you losing your mind when things don't go as planned or the promise is not fulfilled.
Exactly that is why one needs to think well before making promises
Promises aren't just words, they're bonds. And when they break, sometimes it's the other person who falls apart inside. If you can’t keep it, be honest. Silence hurts more than the truth.
For every broken promises, there is a person that falls apart or breaks on the inside.

If you know you won't be able to fulfill promise , don't make it
Exactly, but some people will come and raise your hopes so high only to crash it.
