Four working days won't be a bad idea.
Hello, everyone.
Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. Growing up with so many workers around my neighborhood, you will always hear them complain and wish the number of workdays could be reduced. Sometimes, once it is Sunday, you hear them lament about how the new week is upon them. I was never bothered by their cries and lamenting until at some point in my life when I was in their shoes, and mine was even worse as I work for six days of the week and have only one day to rest (Sunday) as I prepare for the new week.

Working for six days every week felt like the end of the world for me. I had little or no time for myself or even my family. I became distant from the rest of my family members, and we could go days without even seeing each other, but living in the same house, my own lamenting and complaining was even louder than that of others before me, and that is when I realized how much it hurts. They complained so bitterly about working for 5 days. What about me? Every morning I wake up with that voice in my head telling me to quit, but I just have to force myself to work every morning, and I ask myself if this is what people sign up for and do it for a very long time.
We all have our different opinions about working 5 days, or whether it should be reduced to 4 days, and our reasons for having these opinions. Lately, the rate of inflation around the world and in my country, in particular, is not new news. The cost of transportation is scary and alarming in the sense that if your pay is not high enough, you might end up spending everything on transport to work and be left with nothing in the end. I am currently running my internship program, which will last for about 5 months. The amount of money spent on transportation daily is outrageous, so I had to complain to the management, and they too were considerate and asked that I come to the office at least four times a week. This has been helping me cope.
I will prefer that work days be reduced to 4 or even less; we might get to work for longer hours but will have enough time to rest afterwards. There are certain occupations that work five days a week and spend a lot of time working, and in the end, they are not allowed to enjoy their weekends as they are still called up to sort things out in the office. Less days to work means we get time to rest and recuperate to face the challenges that come with the new week. It can also help workers have some time to spend with family and friends. Families and friendships come crashing down because of jobs that are so tedious and give the worker little or no time at all for family.
Lesser work days will provide an opportunity for family bonding. Also, workers will stand to benefit too, as they don't get to spend all of their income on transportation and lunch for those who buy takeout at lunch but might have to work longer on days they work so the company or firm too will not be at a loss. But if it is possible that work days can be reduced without companies and firms suffering significant losses, then the government should do the people a favor to reduce the days people work.
Thanks for reading.
Balancing work and family is really hard, especially when it feels like it never stops. A four-day workweek could really help us find the balance we really need. Let's hope the government hears us.
Balancing work and family is a type of balance nearly impossible to attain. Thanks for stopping by..
You are right in your opinion, one man's food is another man's poison
That's just it, one man agrees and another will disagree with everything in him.
