Disconnecting the people from the rest of the world.

Hello, everyone.

Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. The evolvement and improvements of technology have made access to the internet a part of our lives, and no day passes by that we do not make use of the internet either for business sake or for academics. It is more like the internet has become an integral part of our lives, and without it, things feel incomplete; without the internet, we would definitely feel there is something missing, which makes it an important part of our lives.

Through the internet, technology has been able to connect the entire world. Before now, you had to travel out to meet people from other countries, or they had to visit your country before you even knew they existed, but with the help of the internet, we have been brought together, and today we can have friends from around the globe without needing to journey or travel miles. It is more like the internet connected us all, bridging those gaps the lack of technology and the lack of internet created. Lately our network providers have been doing the complete opposite of what they are being paid to do, and we are feeling the negative effects of the lack of access to the internet, and I don't want to imagine what it will be like if a rule of no internet access is passed.

We humans adjust and adapt easily, but I doubt we would be able to adjust and adapt to a life where there is no internet access. Lately, our every activity revolves around the internet, which makes going back to the days when it did not exist impossible. These days we need the internet way more than we needed it back in the day; adjusting to such a rule is impossible.

The internet has brought us all together, and today you don't need to travel to China before you have a Chinese friend, as the internet has made it possible to have friends from around the globe and has connected the world together. The internet bridged a lot of gaps; getting your message across now only takes a few seconds, unlike back in the day when months were needed to deliver a single letter. Getting to know people from around the globe was impossible back in the day, but today the internet has given room for that. The internet has, in many ways, made life better and easier, putting us at an advantage over those that were before us.

On my path, I feel depriving the people of access to the internet is a violation of their rights as humans and as citizens of the country and also disconnects them from the rest of the world, thereby limiting their access to information and networks. Taking away internet access is taking the people back to the era of zero technology and forcing them to act like they have not seen the light; there is no other way to see taking away internet access from the people other than modern slavery. Any government that does such to its people is not treating them nicely.

The only reason internet access can be taken away from the people is for security purposes, like in the northern part of the country, where it needed to be taken away to stop the flow of information from terrorists and also help to tackle the situation and it has to be restored the moment the issue is contained so people can go back to accessing the internet, aside that passing such a rule without a good reason is nothing but a violation of the people's rights.

Internet access has many advantages. Your last paragraph makes it clear that there must also be some precautions to ensure that it does not get out of hand or used inappropriately. Regards @offia66

Removing someone's internet access for security reasons seems like a very prudent decision. But I still think that this decision needs to be made by a team of pros and cons, including a prosecutor and a lawyer. It can't be done unilaterally.

It's understandable if it is done for security reasons like you mentioned. Even movement is restricted sometimes because of security.
Otherwise it constitutes a violation.

A serious violation, then when it was taken away in the northern part of the country it took us time to adapt. We were cut off from the rest of the world.

Aside security purposes, I don't see any other reason why access to the internet will be taken away.
