Can we peacefully coexist without any violence?
Hello, everyone.
Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. Growing up as a kid and even as an adult today, the genre of movie that can keep me glued to the screen is action; once the movie is not action, I tend to sleep off while watching, and when I wake up, it will be over, and I will not go back to see what happened in the movie, since it is not action. Now that is how much I enjoyed and loved action movies. Violence in the world we live in has been on the rise despite struggles to curb and arrest the situation, but all efforts to do so seem futile as it is yet to yield any positive result. If violence had a scale, it would have broken the scale already since it is out of the roof and still on the rise.
It is even more disheartening to see how deep-rooted violence has gotten to the point that it can be seen in kids, especially in this era where everything we do for fun comes with a touch of violence as well, and we very fondly love it and enjoy it. These days, if video games are not violent enough, then we don't want them. The other day I heard a friend say the only reason he enjoys playing Mortal Kombat is the blood effect, as he likes how the blood pours out and how some of the characters rip the other apart; aside from that, there is no fun in the game for him, while I, on the other hand, enjoy the same thing in movies. You see how deep-rooted violence is, even though all these are not the major causes of violence, but they, in a way, contribute to it because you have seen it, and if given the opportunity, you will want to practice it.
No doubt the movies we see have a way of affecting how we think and, in most cases, how violent we are. I vividly remember those days as kids after seeing a Chinese movie where the master could put a person to sleep by using his hand to hit an opponent on the neck, and as kids, we kept doing it to each other, though it did not work, or maybe we did not do it right, but we attempted it, and that is how violence grows, and we grow up seeing it as a normal since we see adults doing it, and we just conclude it is okay to be violent and try to hurt each other while trying to practice what we saw on TV.
The video games and movies might not be the major reason violence is on the increase, but they also contribute in their own little ways. There are people who are violent because of childhood experiences, some because of the environment they find themselves in, and then there are those I will refer to as psychopaths who are violent for no reason and enjoy being violent, and with every given opportunity they want to harm another person. Funny how we have a lot of people like this roaming the street, and once the opportunity to be violent and harm a person comes their way, they do not hesitate to grab it.
The truth is that we humans cannot really coexist peacefully without little misunderstandings that can result in violence, but one way to help reduce it drastically is for parents to monitor their kids; the type of movies they watch at a young and tender age should be monitored, as well as parents ensuring that their kids are not on the track of violence or the type that can be violent with every little push. Also, those who are unnecessarily violent towards another should be punished and not allowed to just slide like it is nothing or come up with lame excuses to let their violent actions slide.
Violence is everywhere and some people find it fun to inflict pain on others, so they see it a way of life to please themselves. Sometimes, I wonder if it's only through violence we can have our way.
There are people who inflict pain on others and smile while doing so because they enjoy it.
