Being A Whistle Blower
I once came across a social media video that talks about corruption. In the video, the man said: "corruption is not corruption when I am involved. It is only called corruption when they don't involve me."
If you look at it from diverse perspectives, I think he's actually correct. Though a handful of people may not want to indulge in the corrupt act to begin with, however, some people will not report any criminal activity because they are involved in it or maybe their friends and relatives are involved in it.

Being a whistle blower, I think is a good thing, but there are high risks involved in this path. Many people want to expose crimes, talk about the illicit things going on behind the scenes. They want to expose to the people, the laundering and embezzlement of public funds and other criminal offences but the big problem here is that, what protection would they get if they successfully broadcast the crimes of these people to the public.
I have never had it in my mind to actually be a whistle blower, not because of the risks involved but because I'm not really interested in exposing crimes. The only thing I can do is to expose scammers, aside that, other things don't really interest me.
Nowadays, people aren't remorseful of the crime the committed, but they are annoyed at themselves for making the mistakes that got them caught in the act.
Being a whistle blower is a nice thing. Anybody can decide to be a whistle blower but I don't think everyone should go into the path of whistle blowing. I think each individual should decide for themselves what they want to do. They should do anything that interests them, as not everybody can actually bear the risks involved in being a whistle blower.
Though I'm not interested in being one, I think it's a noble path, however, the risks involved is too much. I think whistle blowers should be protected a lot so that they will not be easy targets to the criminals they exposed. Criminals can hunt them to the ends of the earth because they exposed their criminal actions.
Speak of protection, I think the protection should come from the government, but then when you think of it, some of the crimes relating to money are being carried out by the politicians and people in the government. So, would the government fully protect someone that is actively trying to expose their shady dealings? I doubt.
Instead of giving whistle blowers support and protection, I think these politicians will look for ways to actively manipulate the whistle blower's reports. Politicians may suppress the informations from whistle blowers so that it will not reach the public given that the information could affect their reputation.
So, when it comes to the protection of whistle blowers, I think it should not be handed over to the government totally. Instead, there should be an agency that can't be influenced by the government and it's politicians. This agency should be responsible for publishing the information by these whistle blowers, and they should also be incharge of protecting the whistle blowers.

Wow, I love this angle you came from.
Our government cannot be totally trusted with such, having another body that can't be influenced by them is truly the best step to take as they would be responsible for the whistle blowers safety and also fact check whatever information gotten.
