Public And Private Sector

If not that my beloved country Nigeria is being governed by people who have lackadaisical attitude, the private sector won't have had upper hands in some area in the country. The country is rich enough to cater for all the needs of her citizens but corrupt politicians don't want the citizens to enjoy good lifestyles that's why they are deviating some of the country's income to their personal treasuries. It's so disheartening to see citizens of oil producing nation wallowing in lack.

Power Sector

In the power sector, we do not have a private or public electricity sector. The government works together with energy companies to provide electricity supply for the whole country. Though the power outrages sometimes are heartbreaking, but there has been an improvement in my area since the beginning of this year and I'm loving it. I pray it continues to improve and not decline to the worse before the year runs out

Education Sector

Years back, the public sector lags behind the private sector in the health and education sector, but recently the government is now gearing up to cover up their lapses in the two areas.

There have been massive recruitments of young graduates in almost all the state of the federation in the health and education sector and it has helped to improve the two sectors greatly.

I can testify that the shape of education is gradually improving and I can proudly say public schools are now doing well because I'm part of the system now and no class in my area has more than thirty pupils in a class.

Gone are the days when classes are overcrowded, the government is doing everything in its power to provide quality education to all children by making education compulsory for all kids with their slogan "every child counts".

Primary and Secondary schools are presently going through a new phase, they are both enjoying the impacts of young graduates as their tutors. I'm a Basic 6 class teacher and we have a total number of Fifty pupils in my school's Basic 6 which are divided into Class A and B.

Public schools are enjoying free education coupled with free textbooks, free wears, notebooks or bags from the government and philanthropists. Most times, people come around to pay external examination fees for pupils and students. They also pay for JAMB registration fees for those in secondary schools who have the aim of gaining admission to tertiary institutions.

I'm a product of public school and I've enjoyed some privileges while I was a student, so I'm trying my best to be of positive impact to the educational sector. I will never do anything that will jeopardize the future of another person's child. Things are now different in public schools because we now engage our pupils in activities that makes learning lively and I'm loving the shape of things.

Health Sector

Though there are still some challenges in the public health sector like shortage of medicines, medical personnel and equipment while in the private health sector, once you have your money, you have access to quality medical attention. But services by the government too can't be written off, there has been improvement lately with the renovations of dilapidated buildings and massive recruitments done across board.

For now, my preference will be to choose private health sector in case of emergency for swift attention but for the power and education I will still go with the government owned sector.

Speaking of the educational sector, I must say that you are only aware of the areas you have seen, there are some places where the government schools lack adequate teachers, even the classrooms are falling apart, no chairs or tables. What about in the higher institution level, there are all kind of threats of strike from academic boards and unions affecting the progress of government owned institutions.

Yes that was why I specifically indicated that in my area. The government still have a lot to do so as to better the life of her citizens

Government services are not easily available to us, also the quality of services is not good. On the other hand, the private sector is very expensive, where not everyone can afford services. If the quality of government services can be improved, it will truly be a blessing for the countrymen.
