Modern Day Slavery

Just as the way slave trade was practiced in the olden days so is it till today but I can say it's in a modernized way. Modern day slavery is in disguise, lots of people still engaged in it in most parts of the world including my beloved country Nigeria.

From adults to children everyone is involved in slavery and most times we all didn't see it as slavery, we have all counted it as a normal thing.

There are a lot of instances around us that when we look at it thoroughly, we will see acts of slavery in it. Firstly is child labour, the way at which some people engaged underage kids in activities that are more than their maturation is bad.

Some people don't even differentiate their own kids to others, once they have children around, that use them like rags. Here in Nigeria, child labour isn't legalized, but majority of people still practice it.

On our major roads we see children who aren't up to 18 years doing menial jobs, hawking or begging for survival during school hours while those that manage to be in school would still end up on the street immediately after school because their parents aren't capable of sustaining the family.

As an adult, once you are engaging in sexual intercourse with your partner have it in mind that the responsibilities of your home is on you and your spouse not on the innocent children you both brought to the world. If you know you aren't capable of handling responsibilities please don't indulge in copulation or use protection and not bring the innocence to the world to suffer.

What usually pisses me off is that some couple would even give birth to a large number of children that they can't take care of. They will now be looking for family members or friends that will help then in taking care of them. Some couples even willingly released their kids to be used as a maid....that's slavery of the highest order and it's so disheartening.

Now let's take a look at adult slavery in the work sector. The rate at which people are working hard is on another level but their earnings are just crazy. When you hear the peanut people earn as salary you will be amazed.

Employees use their employers as they want and when it's time to pay their allowance they don't get it as at when due. How can a whole grown up in this present economy be earning less than $30 as a take home at the end of the month.......It's slavery

Employers enslave their employees all because there are a large percentage of unemployed people in the country, so they have the choice of either take their offer or not. An average Nigerian earns less while their employers gains the most from their hard labour, that's bad.....it's slavery.

To eradicate this practices, government should bring out strict law that will deal with anyone that breaks the law. But aren't most government officials part of those extorting people and putting them in slavery?

Only the Divine will save the world from slavery because as it is now I don't think slavery can be eradicated completely but it can be minimized.
