The Digital Dilemma: Choosing The Platform To Sacrifice

Gone are those days we had very few social media platforms with Facebook being the most used. Today, there are countless platform promoting social connection to create more opportunities for both good and bad purposes. Right from the beginning, social media have had influence on people but depending on their uses.

All the time I've spent on social media, I've learnt so much about how deceiving the spaces can be. If one is not careful or cautious, these platforms will do a lot more harm than good to it's users. I just learned of a platform that is even worse than the other platforms I know. Most of these social media even have same functions and features.

The Hive learners prompt is asking which social media platform would I ban if I had the power to. I thought the inspiration behind this prompt could be that someone already thinks there are irrelevant platforms at the moment and as much as I would agree with that fact, I don't think any social media platform is completely useless.

I've seen people go big with the help of social media, it has been a blessing for many and even created new kinds of jobs for the masses, like content creation and influencer. I remember years ago, there was no such jobs or they were done more locally. Today, anyone who finds passion in working from home have the chance.

Honestly, I can not think of any social media platform I know that I would want to see cease from existing. I still feel nostalgic ache when I remember 2go and the fact that it's no more available. Other platforms have taken over and even provided better features but I still remember how peaceful those first moments were for me.

I believe there is a very good reason to ban each and every social media platform, including the ones I'm not aware of but I also believe, the reasons to keep them running are worth letting them be. But if I must ban, it will be those dating platforms. I've never used them but for some time now, I've been seeing too many of them and comfortably people try to advertise these sites.

I hear too many negative remarks from those sites than actual good remarks and that says a lot about how badly these sites are affecting it's users. Of course, people are the ones deciding what to use each site for but I think sacrificing dating sites for the peace of other platform is just right. I'm sure there are more reasons to ban them than I know because I've never used them.

Maybe my answer would be different if I really had the power but for the fantasy of it, I'll want to put an end to dating sites that I think are not for the purpose they may have actually been created for. Any social media platform that has gone off it's purpose or causing more havoc to users, I think they should be banned and dating platforms are the first on my list before any other.

Yes, dating platform is among the platform I would ban if I had the power. Some teenagers are now using the platform just because it help people to connect to people they're interested with.

You want to ban sites where people go to find their wives and husbands.😂😂 they are coming for you.

But in this era, these sites are really not being used for the right purposes. People are now selling their bodies on those dating apps.

I didn't use dating app and in my region it's not so common either. But the idea of dating apps seems ridiculous to me because I feel it's a app for having fun more specifically wasting time. And time is money for me. I can't afford to waste my time for such kind of app.

Your pick on dating platforms made me nod, the stories around them are very very rough lately. I like how you still see value in keeping most spaces alive, but when ADmin rules are loose and scams run wild, the harm adds up fast. As a numbers guy, I think of it like net benefit vs damage, and dating apps often feel like costs outweigh gains :) It' also hit me when you mentioned missing 2go, that calm era felt safer somehow.

totally, your take was on point and it felt balanced. Dating apps can be a rabbit hole of ads and fake vibes, while real platforms still create value, even if their messy somdays. 2go days had a calm pace that let us breathe and enjoy the simple stuff :) If you had to keep just one platform for the net benefit, which would it be?
