Living On Edge.
Truth be told, this days I don't sleep the way I would have loved too. The kind of people in my community are the type that most of us here in Nigeria kind of dread. But then, NYSC has carried me come, what can I do. Each time I here a bike sound at some time of the night or I hear sounds, then that's it for me, I don't sleep anymore. This people can be out in the night at anytime, sometimes as a family discussing, sometimes as different people doing some sort of meetings. The worst part is the fact that they can walk about or kick their motorcycle at any time, including midnight.
It's the fear have been carrying about for a while now. Thanks fea that someone somewhere is watching, the fear that some people are planning something, the fear that an attack might just happen. I am not saying al of these people are bad, some of them have proven otherwise. And while growing up, I use to believe that the police and law enforcement agencies are enough to protect and safeguard the lives of people. But then again, we've been proven otherwise. We are ina country where kidnappers and bandits do Tiktok lives and show their abducted victims, we are in a country where an entire community could be kidnapped, we live in a country where these abducters can now fly a jet or plane to kidnap people. And I can't help but ask myself, "if I had the money, would I help or would I become a vigilante."
First off, I've witnessed and seen what insecurity was like. I've seen how our streets have now become deserted, how schools are being closed down, and how different people are beginning to form watchmen and all. And the truth remains that m, we are not safe. So, if I had the money, I will definitely step in. Even those who are in their house doing their things are now being taken, so, nobody's safe anywhere. We've prayed, and all, but now, actions are needed too, so, what I would do is help create certain structures, like helping with more streetlights, street cameras, trained security personnel and such.
I've been following someone for a while now, and these days, I find him hammering more on insecurity and how it could be tackled. His name is Charles Awuzie. He's been hammering more on how Nigeria should open the door for some regulated private security personnel. I can't really recall his exact words and such, but the point is to allow for private security companies. It's definitely over what the government only can do, they should allow responsible private security institutions to come in. And I can recall him referring to South Africa among one of the countries that really invest in private security companies.
So, if I had the money, that is what I would love to do. I would use my resources to build safety structures, to train young men and women, to create a system that partners with the government in eradicating insecurity. I would invest in technology, partner with intelligent minds and find a way around this daily problems of ours. Because, the people should be allowed to live, children should be able to learn in peace, our roads and streets are supposed to be danger free..and insecurity should also stop being our prayer points every night, cause even the places of worship/prayer aren't safe anymore as well.
I would do the best I can to make sure a child can walk home without fear, that a mother can travel without being scared, that people can go to worship without being afraid of an attack, and that we all can live in peace and harmony without wondering where and the next attack will be.

Hummm insecurity and lack of sleep. Pls try to take nap in the afternoon when you have time to do so because the results of not having enough sleep is very bad.
I had a first hand experience here in Lagos sometimes ago during the time of one million boys robbery.
On insecurity, I have a lot to say but my prayer is "May the Lord heal our land"
I think that will be the best thing, even if it's to force it.
And like you said, may the Lord heal our land, cause it's getting out of hand.
Thanks a lot for stopping by.

I can imagine how you're coping. I hate when people are disturbing the peace of another person without caring at all. On Monday when I was going back to school because after finishing my exam I went to spend my holiday with my elder sister when I get home that's how my brother told me that some bandits killed some people and also kidnapped some people. Nowadays, we are not safe again because of what is happening due to lack of insecurity. So please take a nap maybe during the afternoon time because if you say you should wait in the night they will keep disturbing your sleep.
That's just it, they will keep on disturbing.
So I think the afternoon is best, Thanks a lot ma'am.
And the insecurities, presently nowheres safe. That's just my own belief. May the Lord come through for us.
Thanks a lot for stopping by.
