STOPPING AN ADDICTION
My phone is my best pal, with it I feel like I can go anywhere in the world. I think it’s basically because of the things I do with it. If you are expecting me to say work, then I’m sorry to disappoint you because I do that more with my PC. It’s funny how I do the majority of my jobs with my PC but still end up addicted to my phone. If there is nothing to do with the phone, holding it just feels like the right thing to do. And when I say I hold my phone I mean I hold it just to stare at the screen.I do not watch movies with my phone, I stopped watching movies with my phone a long time ago because I was trying to reduce being addicted to my phone, I deleted a lot of the games I had then , now I do not even have music I listen to in my phone, but yet I’m still addicted to my phone, so what really am I addicted to in my phone?
The most used app on my phone is facebook, maybe I would say discord comes second, but I view my chat on discord as work so I would sometimes use my C to chat on discord instead of my phone. The only time I’m full away from my phone is either when I’m with my PC or my partner decides to use it, else you find the phone in my hand. One time I was taking a walk with my partner and she was with my phone while I was busy feeling empty. It was as though something was missing from my life and I needed to find it. Turns out my hand was just missing my phone lol. This has happened on several occasions and it’s as though I can’t get used to it because my hands just want to hold the phone.
I see this as a psychological issue, it’s a habit that I have developed over time, and in order to kill that habit I started by learning to share my phone with my partner. This might sound strange, but it has helped with the addiction even though my body finds a way to want to react to it. My partner just takes the phone when she sees I am not doing anything with it which forces me to find something else to do and before you know it, I’m exploring new things. Yesterday I wasn’t feeling well and my partner had my phone for the whole morning up until mid noon when I took the phone from her. Yesterday I wrote a post with my phone for the first time in months because of the resolution to stop an addiction. Truth be told, I have not fully stopped it, and would only admit to stopping it when my body can go at least 24 hours without finding the need to hold a phone. However, I have come a long way, and I am happy about it. On another note, I can go almost the whole day without my phone, so long I have something to keep me busy.
