Photography Filters? That's something you can't win an argument against.

I believe we are in an era where technology is giving us a lot of options to explore and a good number of these come in the form that helps everyone interested to tweak some things about how they project themselves to the rest of the world. This is why it's not uncommon for someone with the necessary skillset to project him or herself in ways that are different from their true self.

Do you know that someone can sit in his home and take a picture of himself and then use Photoshop image-editing software to tweak the image and make it look like he's dining with someone he may never get to meet in this life?

Some people would see that and laud the creativity and skillset used to pull that off. However, some other set of people would see that and tag it as a deceitful act. Whatever the case may be, the fact is that these things are out there and more of the software that can be used to edit or filter images or even videos are growing in numbers.

So, we have gotten to a point where everyone has to take the burden upon themselves to try and screen images they see to know if what they are seeing is the real thing or something that passed through several layers of editing, filtration and Photoshopping. Hehe. It goes without saying that...

Image filters are taking center stage and it has become very easy to have access to these filters.

So, have you started applying filters to your pictures?

There is this App called Snapchat that people have used for several years to add filters to their pictures for whatever reason. I heard about Snapchat since years ago and I'm usually very curious about stuff that piques my interest. However, I never got to check out Snapchat until when a friend wanted to take pictures with my phone and asked if I had the App.

I was like; "I know I have a phone camera. What do you need Snapchat for?" Haha.

Wow!

She got the go-ahead and installed the App on my phone. The level of Joy on her face while playing with that App knows no bounds. It almost feels like there is something magical attached to those filters. Haha. I took part in the pictures and I'm still fascinated with the endless list of filters on the App.

You would think the series of pictures we took on the App would be enough to whet my appetite and make me a Snapchat filter fanatic.

Hah! Haha!

The opposite is the case!

I dunno... It just never crosses my mind to check the App. It's almost like the App is invisible because nothing draws me to it. However, whenever my friend gets to toy with my phone, chances are always 50/50 that she will play around with Snapchat and its crazy filters. Haha

Does it mean that it's wrong to use filters?

There are some things you will never win an argument against and it feels like the use of photography filters is one of those. Hehe. So, if you love it, keep using it and flex it as much as you want. However, if you are someone like me and you don't feel enthusiastic about using filters when taking pictures, then, I suggest you don't make any bones about those that use it. Haha.

This was so interesting to read.
I personally did not like filters initially, but I later found it to be sometimes useful, if you just want to tweak around colors and creating different shades, filters can be great at that.
Or maybe you took the picture under a low quality light, filters can help the picture pop.

I just feel we should not be addicted to anything such as not being able to take a picture without filters.

And like you said, just do what you prefer.

I am also not a big fan of snapchat filters, to me it makes me look too fake, how do i turn overly light and all my acne missing in a few seconds. I would always stick to my phone camera but when I am jobless snapchat is my go to app🙃🙃

Hahah... Tammy seems to be a seasonal filter fanatic. Lol. You have to either choose to be a full fan or a non user. Haha.

Those filters do magic. For some people, once they turn on their camera, it automatically switches to one filter or another. They wouldn't feel satisfied about any picture until they run it through many filters.

With each new app that hits the play store, manipulating your images has become way easier. For many, if they don't use it, they'll never feel comfortable uploading their pictures. This doesn't speak well for our generation at all...

The alarming thing about these Apps is the rate at which people patronize them. Their marketing strategy surely hits the spot and the existence of TikTok even makes it easier for words to be spread about any new filter. Haha.

Another fact is that those that already has a vested interest in these Apps usually find it hard to turn their back on it. Haha. It's interestingly weird.

I don't like filters. It, in most cases, gives false presentation of someone. I see that it has a lot to do with self esteem.

Yeah. That's one of the factors. Funny enough, there are people who like better in person than what they get when they run their pictures through multiple Filters.

Hahah... You got the gist. No matter what is said or done, anyone that is already a fan will never stop using those filters. The same goes for someone that doesn't fancy them.

So, sometimes, we just have to realise that there are some things that we can't win an argument against and this particular talking point is one of those things.

Haha... Exactly oooo. The Snapchat on my phone is only being used with my lady is around. If she's not there, I wouldn't even remember that I have a Snapchat 😂

It is best to be on a neutral side, I have seen people condemn the use of filters but that's not my and instead, I will advise that people use it moderately.

Excessive filter usage turns me off and I go about teasing people on WhatsApp when their status looks differently from what they are.

Haha... I don't even have the strength to think too much about people's usage of filters.

All I know is that I wouldn't wake up one day and start looking for any filter to use. However, if someone pulls out a camera and I'm part of the picture, I won't step out just because they are taking the picture with an App that has filter. haha.

l hardly take selfies and my own pic. So I don't need to use a filter. There exists another reason also not to use a filter. And the reason is I don't like it😂😂 and that reason is enough for me. isn't it?

There are arguments not worth engaging in actually because there will never be a winner.... No one will be able to convince each other.

Snapchat, I've seen a lot of persons who use that, I'm not even Interested in it sef but many persons use it.

These days, nothing seems to be original anymore, people have to pass pictures through series of tests inorder to verify if they are real or they were just being edited.. it's very funny, yet I love the cruise🤣🤣

Ladies and Snapchat are five and six, some of them even subscribe their phones just to take pictures with Snapchat, tor.. they need to look good for us na😁😁

Like you said, if you are for filters fine and good but if it's not your thing let those who love it enjoy their lives in peace. There's absolutely nothing wrong with using filters.

I even have Tiktok on my phone but I did not have an account.

My phone camera hardly have work to do. 😂😂😂

That is just it, the fact that a person doesn't like filter doesn't mean such person has to confirm those using it, it is just about what interest a person.

There’s this technology that even makes you look like someone or makes it look like someone is doing something. It caused an uproar as people castigated it and insisted it would be used for crimes. Which I don’t think is impossible. Humans are really something.

I have the app (Snapchat) but hardly use it. I use my camera as it’s enough. Being able to capture natural beauty will always be a number one for me.

The list of filters is growing and a lot of filters are getting integrated into the ones that are already existing. Some are so weird, you will even wonder why anyone would bother making use of those. Haha.

However, it's all about the trend and folks can go crazy for trendy stuff.
