I don't ask for wishes and I didn't grow up in a culture where we ask for wishes as part of the Christmas Celebration. However, "A Holiday Wish" is the writing prompt dropped in the Hive Learners Community and I thought about it for a while.

• Do I have a wish I would want anyone to grant?

• Is there a Genie out there that grants wishes?

I dunno about that. All I know is that there are many things I want and there are many things I'm working towards. Some are more long-term than others and each of them can give me a very huge push and help change the trajectory of my life for good. So, if there is a wish-granting figure out there, I'm sure I would have a lot to wish for.

Well, lemme tell you of my Holiday Wish;

I live alone in the South Southern part of Nigeria and I already know I won't be celebrating this holiday season with my siblings or parents. They are all in the southeastern part of the country. It would be good if I could make it, but I already have a lot of things I'm working towards in the final phase of this year so I can't afford to make any trip.

While I'm already busy with other things, I'm sure my parents and siblings are also busy with a lot of activities. However, the holiday vibe is still very far from us. We can't celebrate anything right now. We are at a very important moment in my family and each of us is patiently and hopefully waiting to hear some good news from my brother.

Yeah, my brother!

My brother is a medical student and he's currently writing the most important exam of his life right now. He is writing the famous Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) exam and he has been preparing for this exam for most of his University education.

I'm a University graduate and I've seen friends and roommates who also had to sit for this exam during my days in University. One thing I know for sure is that MBBS isn't an exam to be taken lightly. It is an exam that plays a huge part in deciding the fate of medical students and I've seen too many people's academic life and dream career take a huge hit because of the outcome of their MBBS exam.

The good news though is that it's not an impossible mountain to climb and if anyone is going to get through this, my brother is one of those people that will surely get a pass. He is a smart lad and he's also very hardworking. He pays very good attention to details and his recurring performance in Examinations has always been excellent. I know he's capable and I believe he knows what's on the line.

I spoke with him over the weekend to see how the exam is unfolding and he gave an inspiring feedback. I also spoke with my Parents and it's obvious they all know the importance of what he's facing. We are all praying for him and we are checking up on him to be sure he's getting into each Exams prepared.

His Exam is ending on 22nd December and the results will come out 24 hours later. We are all waiting and my wish for this December is for him to get an excellent performance in his MBBS Exam.

That's all. Once that happens, the rest of this holiday season would be filled with excitement, thanksgiving and Celebration.
