They say it is for the people

‎Hello everyone, I welcome you to my blog

‎During my primary and secondary school days, we were fed with a definition of the government that was made to seem perfect to us kids. We were told that government is of the people, by the people and for the people. According to this definition, we were made to believe that the government exists for everyone, both rich and poor, and young and old. But I've grown up to see that the definition I've known all my life is nothing but a muck-up.

‎We leave in a country where the poor doesn't even stand a chance. The rich keeps getting richer, and the poor gets poorer day after day. The government claims to fight for the people, but all it does is take from the people and never give back.
‎You can imagine an average man who toils day after day before he can see the least 5k for meals, and still, he's supposed to pay tax to a government that have contributed more to his downfall.

‎Some months back, I ran into an old classmate who had graduated from the University with a 2nd class upper degree, and guess what? He was carrying building blocks. Now, this isn't what he studied in school, but he had to try and survive. After spending 4 to 5yrs of his life in school, and an extra year serving his country, in the end he got nothing. For a graduate, to get your dream job is either by connection or some kind of an almost impossible miracle. You might graduate with a first class degree, but someone with a pass will get the job you're supposed to have, and it all amounts down to connections. And this is because of the government we have. If we had a good government, enough jobs will be made available, and people wouldn't have to toil day and night for peanuts.

‎We live in a country where the government can wake up one morning, and pass a law for everyone to evacuate because they want to build roads. They take down people's houses and shops without compensation. And worse still, the roads remain the same, but people's lives are ruined for it. Every day, you hear the country is owing billions of dollars to another country, but we don't know what the money was used for, and in the end, we are the ones paying for it.
‎If things go south, the rich can easily make a run for it, but what happens to the poor man struggling to get by every single day?

‎Our government isn't something to be proud of. It thrives under corruption, with no end in sight. Even if the current government leaves, and another comes with promises of paradise, it takes no time for them to follow the footsteps of their predecessors.
They are more interested in filling their own pockets, and stuffing themselves with riches, while the poor and the underprivileged are left to suffer in a country where their voice are meant to be heard.

‎I've always had this one thought though...maybe what we see in movies are real. In movies, there's a president and all that chain of command, but then, there are people influencing everything that happens. I think government is just a front used to cover up the real people running the system.

‎In conclusion, I'm saying that we were lied to, because government is not for the people; it is for the very rich and influential people. While the poor man is left to take the brunt for the insane decisions that are being made without their consent, and it doesn't get any better.
