Life is All About Taking Risks.
Hey Everyone, I hope you are all fine and doing great. This post is my entry for the weekly featured content in the #Hivelearners community. Today's topic to write about is THE RISKS WE TAKE.
Every day, we take risks. Sometimes big, sometimes small. That’s just how life is. Whether it's about business, education, or even small daily things, we all make choices that could go either way. Some people are scared of risks, but I believe if we don’t take chances, we might miss something great.
I’ve taken many risks in my life. Today, I want to share two of the most important ones. One of them is still ongoing, and I’m not sure yet if it’ll be successful. The other one didn’t go as planned at all, but I still learned a lot from it.
My First Risk – Selling Something Precious to Invest
Recently, I made a big decision. I had something very valuable, a gift that was very close to my heart. It was a beautiful gold bracelet. It wasn’t just expensive, but also had a lot of emotional value. Still, I decided to sell it.
Why? Because I found a business opportunity that looked promising. The problem was, I didn’t have enough money to invest in it. Selling that bracelet was the only way I could make it happen. Honestly, it wasn’t easy. I kept thinking, “What if this goes wrong? What if I lose everything and regret it?”
But at some point, I told myself, “You have to take the leap if you want something better.” So, I sold the bracelet and invested that money. Right now, I’m still waiting to see how it turns out. There are a few positive signs, but nothing is guaranteed.
Was it a big risk? Definitely. I didn’t just give up money,I gave up something with deep meaning. And yes, sometimes I do feel nervous about it. But I also feel proud that I had the guts to take action instead of sitting back.
My Second Risk – Investing in a Risky Asset That Went Bad
Now let me tell you about another time when things didn’t work out.
A few years ago, there was a lot of hype around a new kind of digital investment. People around me were saying they made huge profits in just a few days. I didn’t want to miss out, so I jumped in. I didn’t conduct extensive research; I simply followed the trend. I put almost all of my savings into it.
At first, everything looked amazing. My investment was growing, and I was feeling like I had made the smartest move ever. But then, suddenly, the market crashed. In just a few days, I lost almost everything.
It felt like a bad dream. I kept checking my account, hoping things would bounce back. But they didn’t. Everything I had saved was gone. I felt helpless.
But you know what? That experience taught me a lot. I realised how important it is to understand what you’re putting your money into. I learned that patience and proper research matter more than quick gains. That failure hurt, but it also opened my eyes.
I lost money, yes, but I gained experience. Now, whenever someone talks about investing, I always share my story and tell them: “Don’t invest in anything blindly, no matter how good it sounds.”
Why I Still Believe in Taking Risks
After going through both of these experiences, I still believe in taking risks. Not blind ones, but smart, thought-out risks. Life isn’t predictable. If we keep playing it safe all the time, we might never grow. Some of the most meaningful moments come from taking chances, even scary ones.
Yes, risk means you might lose. But it also means you might win. Whether it's starting something new, learning a new skill, or simply following a dream, there’s always some risk involved.
So, the most recent risk I took was selling something that meant a lot to me so I could invest in a possible future. I don’t know yet if it’ll work out, but I’m hopeful. And I also remember the past, where I lost everything once, but still came out stronger and wiser.
At the end of the day, I’d rather take a chance and learn something from it than stay stuck and wonder “What if?”

Seeing how you lost everything in the first investment and still going into another one. 👍 I wish you luck and pray the one you hoping for turn out successful. Amen🙏
Sometimes we just have to take risk hoping it pays off, some very risky with great consequences while some have mild consequences.
