Women can do anything they want.

  At our last Hive Learners hangout, we were chatting about how to avoid raising siblings into competition. Many times, we give preferences to one kid and the other feels that they are less preferred. Then one user made an interesting statement. In some cultures, the oldest child is considered stronger and with more responsibilities. Cultural influence background for sure influences family relationships to this day, including religion. For education is the same story since females in Western cultures just got the same rights as men to study and work, but in many countries, this type of equalitarian thinking is still in the process of moving.

  My wife sometimes says that I am too intolerant of different ways of thinking. For example, I see religion as an important tool of ethics and faith that can bring good products to our existence. But I don't agree when we use religion as a history book. So every time that time one says that humanity started with Adam and Eve is challenging to me. We consider humans as all Homo genus members, so Neanderthals are considered humans. I said many times that science isn't a matter of belief, it is evidence-based. So the same thing about human rights based on gender, why should women have different positions in society compared to men?

  Humans evolved and created tools that separate us from the rest of the animals. Most of the animals, the females dedicate part of their life to taking care of their children, while males are just there to provide sperm. But even in the wild animals, we see females in more working positions compared to males. Lions, for example, who usually hunt and kill animals, are the females; the males just battle each other in order to fight for territory. But humans are different; we study, work to pay bills, and it is too complex to compare our lives with other animals. So yes, women can also study if they want and be presidents, scientists and millionaires like any man.

  I can compare the 1950s as a decade where women didn't have many rights. They gained the same rights as men, and nowadays they study everywhere I have lived so far. I wish that everywhere in the world were like that. I have two daughters and I wish that they pursue what they want. If they want to be a plumber or an astronaut, if they are happy doing that, I don't have anything against it.

  But I am aware that not every place is the same. But I wish that all around the world changes that view, despite of religion or background culture, where women are treated as just child caretakers or housewives. If they want to live in that position, it isn't a problem, but it is bad when we men decide for them. We shouldn't rule what others should or shouldn't do. And we men can also take care of the house and children. We are also responsible for the house cleaning and cooking. Like Michelle Obama said: "When girls are educated, their countries become stronger and more prosperous.”

  Em nosso último encontro do Hive Learners, estávamos conversando sobre como evitar criar irmãos em competição. Muitas vezes, damos preferência a uma criança e a outra sente que é menos preferida. Então, um usuário fez uma declaração interessante. Em algumas culturas, o filho mais velho é considerado mais forte e com mais responsabilidades. A influência cultural certamente influencia os relacionamentos familiares até hoje, incluindo a religião. A educação é a mesma, já que as mulheres nas culturas ocidentais têm os mesmos direitos que os homens de estudar e trabalhar, mas em muitos países, esse tipo de pensamento igualitário ainda está em processo de mudança.

  Minha esposa às vezes diz que sou muito intolerante a diferentes formas de pensar. Por exemplo, vejo a religião como uma ferramenta importante de ética e fé que pode trazer bons resultados para a nossa existência. Mas discordo quando usamos a religião como um livro de história. Então, toda vez que alguém diz que a humanidade literalmente começou com Adão e Eva, é um desafio para mim. Consideramos os humanos como todos os membros do gênero Homo, então os neandertais são considerados humanos. Eu disse muitas vezes que a ciência não é uma questão de crença, é baseada em evidências. Então, o mesmo vale para os direitos humanos com base no gênero: por que as mulheres deveriam ter posições diferentes na sociedade em comparação aos homens?

  Os humanos evoluíram e criaram ferramentas que nos diferenciam do restante dos animais. Na maioria dos animais, as fêmeas dedicam parte de suas vidas a cuidar de seus filhotes, enquanto os machos estão lá apenas para fornecer esperma. Mas mesmo entre os animais selvagens, vemos fêmeas em mais posições de trabalho do que os machos. Os leões, por exemplo, que costumam caçar e matar animais, são as fêmeas; os machos apenas lutam entre si para disputar território. Mas os humanos são diferentes; estudamos, trabalhamos para pagar contas, e é muito complexo comparar nossas vidas com as de outros animais. Então, sim, as mulheres também podem estudar se quiserem e ser presidentes, cientistas e milionárias como qualquer homem.

  Posso comparar a década de 1950 como uma década em que as mulheres não tinham muitos direitos. Elas conquistaram os mesmos direitos que os homens, e hoje em dia elas estudam em todos os lugares onde morei até agora. Gostaria que todos os lugares do mundo fossem assim. Tenho duas filhas e desejo que elas busquem o que desejam. Se elas querem ser encanadoras ou astronautas, se estão felizes fazendo isso, não tenho nada contra.

  Mas sei que nem todos os lugares são iguais. Mas desejo que o mundo inteiro mude essa visão, independentemente da religião ou cultura de origem, de que as mulheres são tratadas apenas como cuidadoras de crianças ou donas de casa. Se elas querem viver nessa posição, não há problema, mas é ruim quando nós, homens, decidimos por elas. Não devemos ditar o que os outros devem ou não fazer. E nós, homens, também podemos cuidar da casa e das crianças. Também somos responsáveis pela limpeza e pela cozinha. Como disse Michelle Obama: "Quando as meninas são educadas, seus países se tornam mais fortes e prósperos."
