Changing History won't change Humanity

I love comic books. I just don't have the time and money to buy them. Marvel had a comic series that I used like to read and there is even a mini-series on Disney Plus called "What if". They create stories based in possibilities of the past that the character decided not to opt for. For example, there is a story where Spider-Man joined the Fantastic 4. There is a story in the past in a Spider-Man magazine when Spider-Man almost joined this other superhero team, but in the end he didn't. So this new story explores something that didn't happen but what would happen if our hero joined. The story had serious implications to the Fantastic 4 when Sue Storm left the group, so the reality changed a bit. That causes the famous Butterfly effect. And it is explored in many fantasy and sci-fi books and movies. What about the possibility of these specific changes in the past?

As any normal person, we are always tempted for that, avoiding errors in the past and even big events that are considered chaotic in human history. Recently, we have been having many episodes around the world that are polarizing our society even more such as the Assassination of Charlie Kirk in the US, the arrest of the former Brazilian president Bolsonaro, and the current ongoing wars. We are tempted to think in the possibility of changing key events in these events, so maybe society would have less anger.
The first immediate answer of avoiding a key event from occurring is immediate relief; we wouldn't see anger rising. But we are creating an alternative branch in reality and we are causing a Butterfly Effect. Which is exactly what the 'What if' serious brings in many stories...other problems appear. If Charlie Kirk wasn't assassinated, the future also brings an unknown question about the future of the US and the World, since he was a strong character in the country, maybe a future US president? And despite of I don't agree with his death, I didn't agree with many things that he used to say, like Donald Trump. So, what is better, keeping him assassinated or avoiding his assassination in the past? I am a cautious man who hates to play with the past.
Another tricky consequence to deal: The Grandfather paradox. If I had avoided the Second World War would be amazing how many lives I would save, but there is a big probability that I wouldn't be born. My grandfather ran away from Germany during that period to South America. Probably he would have never met my Grandmother, so all my mom's family branch would have disappeared, including me.

History is very fragile, even with superpowers and the possibility of going to the past would make so many changes that I don't want to be the one responsible for that. I prefer to deal with a sad past that creates anger in the world and fight for a better future with less anger. In addition, even if avoiding one event that creates anger and sadness humanity for sure will generate more other similar events that would have the same effect. While we are humans and living with other humans we have no chance to escape from this problem.

This post reminds me Red Alert plot, after ww2, Einstein goes back in time killing Hitler and preventing it, but like this the Soviet union became stronger and starts invading europe while the US are in isolation and don't intervene
I loved this game but i didnt remember the plot lol haahaha bit of nostalgia

It's waiting you!
It makes me laugh that if you change the world war then maybe you're not born.... I also agree that changing past events will be more complex and we can't get out of ourselves into all these problems
!LUV
Yeah many things can change 🤣
I love this🤝.
And as you rightly said, changing history could erase some parts of we are today. So true, the best we could do is to do better moving forward while choosing to grow, love and be more kinder.
Thanks for sharing.
💯💗💯
Imagine if anything changes in the past of my life? Probably the way that i live nowadays would be totally different!
It's always the ones we want to change that we are after but what about the ones we have the power to change and yet ain't doing anything, THE PRESENT!
Indeed, time travel is a wonderful thing in the superficial level but like you believing you won't have been given birth too 😅, I also think that the ethical considerations surrounding this would be unfathomable to all of us so yeah, let's learn from our mistakes and create a better tomorrow
Living the present for sure it is the best to stay focused . Just saw a video talking about billionaires and how we will have them in any different types of systems. Instead of trying to avoid them and find a perfect system where everyone can be equal we should focus on ending poverty.
It is what it is I guess
The part about your grandfather escaping Germany really lands, because it shows how change can ripple into who even exists. Your right to be cautious, since even a noble fix can twist lives in ways we can't see, and and the cost might be you. I like that you aim for building a kinder future instead of tugging at teh past. Time travel sounds cool until it turns into a weird custody battle with your own timeline.
I am interested more about the possibility of being something possible … but changing something nah
Totally get it, your spot on: the fun is in testing if a path could exist, not in < poking the past. I like the thought lab vibe, mapping posibility space and seeing what rules hold without touching a single domino. It keeps the identity headaches and moral mess out, while still stretching how we think about time. Feels safer and way more interesting.
