The Online Phase Of Man

About a century ago, the aeroplane was invented. Before then, the concept of flying from place to place was alien to man, it sounded impossible and absurd. About a century before the aeroplane, man moved by cars. It was another milestone that many may have doubted.

Just like that, for every major invention, in the period before it, man was surviving without it and possibly even second guessed the importance.
But when they were invented, man adapted. All these inventions had both positive and negative sides but regardless, mankind was neither doomed nor redeemed, life just became... different.

Nowadays, just as we all know, virtually everything can be achieved without stepping out of your house (if you want it that way and have the financial capacity). Virtually everything nowadays has an online version. This, just like every other thing has both advantages and disadvantages.

Life has become much easier as a result, the burden of transport, movement and the time required has been lifted and one can now pay to have all these services delivered to his doorstep.
Even individuals who are shy to meet the opposite gender can kickstart relationships online now.
People who have skills that are not in high demand in their immediate environment can work from home for people in other continents and get paid while at it.

The advantages are too numerous to dwell on so I will stop here.
Some of the disadvantages include that the possibility of falling prey to scammers is increased for the lover, the buyer, the seller and even the remote worker and the employer of a remote worker.

The lover may be deceived by looks which have been altered with makeup, filters and camera angle, he could also be chatting with a fellow man, or woman as the case may be and later fall into the trap of sending money to a fraudster impersonating with the picture of someone else.
The buyer may buy products and upon reception, he realises that what he ordered is entirely different from what he received. There are many trends online illustrating this aspect.

The remote worker may not be paid after a hard work and likewise, a remote worker can get paid upfront and then refuse to do the work which he was paid for. In that case, the employer has been scammed.

There's also the fact that with increased indoor stay comes some diseases that are fostered by inactivity and sedentary lifestyle. Some of these include obesity, diabetes and hypertension alongside their numerous complications.

There's also the point that sunlight is required for bone strength as it helps in metabolism of vitamin D and henceforth, those who consistently stay away from sunlight, especially growing children are at risk of rickets and weak bones.

All in all, I believe that this is just a phase that man is passing through, just like the other phases that have come and gone. Man will adapt to this just as he adapted to the others and in no time, it will become the norm.
