George-dee- Preparing Okro soup for Creative Sunday
It’s time for another Hive Learners Creative Sunday Initiative and as usual, I will be showing you guys how I made something delicious in the kitchen.
For today’s entry, I prepared a nutritious Okro soup. I don’t eat the soup often but whenever I do, I enjoy it a lot because it’s nutritious and adds a different vibe to my swallow meal.
Without wasting much time, let’s go straight to the preparation.
Recipe
Okro.
Basil leaves.
Fish.
Cowskin.
Stock fish.
Palm oil.
Onions.
Seasoning cubes.
Pepper soup powder.
Ginger.
Garlic.
Salt.
Black pepper.
Chilli powder.
Procedure
Remember health is wealth so before anything will be done, all the recipes that need to be processed must be processed. Cooking isn’t just about making a meal, it involves cleanliness as well. If you take away cleanliness from your preparation, healthiness is far from the meal no matter what your recipes are.
- I boiled the stock fish and cowskin after properly removing their dirt and rinsing them. (not a thorough cooking).
- I washed the fish.
- I grated the Okro.
- I rinsed and sliced the pepper, garlic, onions, ginger and basil leaves.
After doing all that I mentioned above, I moved on to the preparation properly.
Ensure your pot is clean before using it. Heat the pot and add a small quantity of palm oil.
Once it is hot, turn the stock fish and cowskin into the hot oil. Let them fry for two minutes before adding onions, garlic and ginger. I allowed everything to fry again for at least another minute.
I added pepper, chilli powder and black pepper. I added a small quantity of water to it and fish as well.
While everything was gently cooking, I added the seasoning cubes, salt and pepper soup powder.
I added a little quantity of water and allowed everything to cook for some minutes.
When the fish had cooked properly, I removed some to prevent everything from breaking into the soup while stirring the soup.
I went on to add the okro and stirred it very well before allowing it to cook for a few minutes.
I added the Basil leaves and allowed everything to cook for another minute before removing the pot from the fire.
Okro soup is very nutritious and will go with any swallow meal. The health benefits of eating Okro are numerous and I will encourage you to go check it out.
Preparing Okro is pocket friendly as well, you don’t need to break the bank for it especially when you are preparing a low budget Okro soup like mine. You can decide to use other vegetables or even chicken/beef and regardless of what your recipes are, you will still enjoy the goodness of the soup.
I hope you learned something and also enjoyed watching the video. Feel free to ask questions regarding the soup in the comment section.

I love cooking as well, it's one of the things I enjoy doing. I am glad you learned something and am looking forward to seeing your fish creative Sunday post as well.
Cheers to a beautiful week.
Never knew you were such a great chef. But I know you will love Okoro because it's one of our favorite soups in Ekiti.
This step-by-step guide is amazing my brother, I wish I could have a taste of that. The soup will be very suitable for pounded yam.
Well done man, you are amazing!!
Yes bro, it will go really well pounded yam. All most all ekiti cooks, our parents know the importance of it and ensure we can make our meals ourselves.
Thanks for the visit, I really appreciate it.
You are right bro, I also know how to cook but now that I'm married, I'm now lazy to cook, lol
This is not a low budget okra soup oo George..rich kid 🤑 everywhere
That stock fish, I sight it, the fresh fish and pomo... you are doing well
Also, I never used cent leaf (basil leaves) for my okra... just imagining how it will turn out..but I hope it will be fine
These are detailed steps here.. thanks for sharing
It is low budget ooo, high budget comes with chicken, beef, snail and others.
Adding basil leaf or any vegetable to okro makes sense. I add bitter leaf sometimes and it's cool. Thanks for the love, you are awesome.
Cheers to a beautiful week.
When should I come and greet you so I can eat?
Lolz, anytime you want boss. You are always welcome, it would be an honour to spend some time physically with you.

This looks so good, so appetizing..
Thanks a lot.
Amazing as usual, mehn, your wife won't have any worries at all. When will you do oha soup for us?
She will worry because there are times I want to eat someone else cooking but I can bet I will do more of the house cooking because I love it if I don't get to work in any organization later.
I can teach my boy some kitchen trick as well. For Oha, lets see what happens this weekend.
