Freedom without Moderation...

“Throw moderation to the winds, and the greatest pleasures bring the greatest pains.” ~ Democritus

The power of moderation can't be overlooked when discussing freedom and you will agree with me that too much of everything in life eventually becomes something else.

It is as simple as asking what happens when we eat too much. We start feeling uncomfortable and it is the same as talking too much because when there is nothing to say again, we begin to say what we aren't supposed to say.

If the truth must be said, there shouldn't be a term like "too much freedom" in the world and Freedom should be freedom

The problem with humans whether young or old is that we are fond of abusing things and freedom is one of the things that has suffered abundantly in our hands.

One of our bad habits as a human is taking things for granted when we have too much of it. I don't know how important that thing can be to us as humans, we will definitely abuse it when we have too much of it.

What kind of freedom is it that we haven't abused as humans?

Let's scan through the fundamental human rights and single out one that has not been abused by humans. Freedom of speech is the most abused freedom and this is why I don't enjoy engaging on Twitter and some other social platforms because it pisses me off to see people saying rubbish on the internet just because they are free to speak.

I remembered correcting a guy who blabbed a lot and after all the threats he made, I told him to give me a place where we can meet for a bout. I hate to run my mouth online just because I can speak freely and I don't blame countries that restrict the use of some social platforms just because of abuse. People are obsessed with rumors and fake news, and bloggers will say just anything to get attention not minding the negative impact of their false news.

Freedom is one thing that shouldn't be taken away from humans and I am not against moderation since that's what can keep us in check with whatever opportunity the freedom is giving to us.

It surprises me how we crave freedom and end up messing up with it in the end. It took time before I could persuade my mom to allow me to play football when I was young, she gave me a limited time to spend at the field but after I became so comfortable with the time, I started adding extras and would even sneak out days when I wasn't supposed to play football according to our agreement.

I don't know if I should say that we easily get carried away with the benefit of freedom and end up abusing it or we just don't value the freedom until we are deprived of it.

When I was working with a sales company, we had bikes for mobile sales in areas that weren't accessible for vehicles.

Some of the riders were having challenges with parking their bike at designated locations before returning to their homes. They spend a lot of money to move from their homes to the bike pick-up point and even get stuck in the traffic, it bothered me so I spoke to them about it.

They made a promise about securing the bikes if they were allowed to take them home and we agreed for them to take the bike home to reduce their stress and the money they spend on transportation. It started really well and they returned a few days later saying all sorts of good things about the convenience they had with the bikes.

A few months passed and some of the bikes started having issues that got me worried. I spoke to the maintenance team and they said it was too early for those bikes to be having such faults so I decided to investigate because I was suspecting that the bikes were serving more than their purpose.

In the end, I discovered that these riders were using the bike for business after work. I was very disappointed because they did abuse the freedom I gave them over the bike.

It is easy to abuse them for doing so but the truth is that many of us have abused many freedom that were given to us.

Looking at it from another angle, some laws wouldn't be needful today if there wasn't a need for restricting freedom to an extent. For instance, you have the right to drink alcohol as an adult. Driving is another thing you can do as long as you are above eighteen and have passed the necessary governmental driving test.

Part of the road laws states that you must not drink alcohol and drive. If restricting freedom wasn't important, laws like this wouldn't be necessary.

Moderating freedom is something I am not against because of human nature to abuse things they have in excess.

Freedom is so underrated bro, I never valued freedom until I saw how prisoners were treated.

Once freedom is taken away from any human, life becomes a different thing for them. A lot of people don't value their Freedom as well and its good when you realised it easily, some people didn't until they lost it and some never gained it back.

Moderation in everything is the best in life. Many people have abused freedom and it makes the one who gives them feel bad and regretting too. Too much of a thing is bad and there is nothing as too much freedom because there should be restrictions and moderation in all things.

Too much of freedom is indeed a terrible thing. At first a lot of people will think it is a good thing but when they start seeing the aftermath, they will realise that getting to much freedom was a grave mistake.

Freedom is important for us but I think we need to understand the value and the true meaning of freedom otherwise we may use of a freedom recklessly which can be termed us too much freedom. It is impossible to make understand everyone the value of freedom. So, from my point of view I prefer to give freedom others within a limit.

You have a good point, understanding the importance of freedom will make us place lots of value on it. Anyone who doesn't understand the value of gold will treat as a mere stone so understanding the importance of freedom we have got will make us put great value on it.

I like the angles you took the topic from.. Humans especially Nigerian humans can abuse anything abusable lol
It's therefore important that things like the ones you've mentioned have rules to keep them in moderation.

Even with the law placed against driving after drinking, some people are still breaking it.
Freedom is free but it shouldn't be in excess.

That's the thing, a lot of people will abuse the law or freedom when there are no restrictions.

Thanks for the invite, I do love to participate in the Adoption Campaign. I will go through the link immediately.

they did abuse the freedom I gave them

If they weren't given the opportunity at first, they would have the company was being wicked and inconsiderate but when they were given the freedom, they abused it.

We should have laws guiding every single thing we do so that we can have value and respect for them..

That's the thing, I have heard them say a lot of things that forced me make that decision and in the end, all they did was messed up.

It is human nature to abuse privileges, we easily allow those things get into our head.
