It Skipped My Mind

Forgetting things is ineluctable. We work, we reason, we get frustrated, we get depressed, and so on. There is a lot of pressure being applied on the brain, we do not expect it to function properly always.

Everyone has the tendency to forget things due to how much our brains are put to work on a daily basis.

For me, it happens often when I am troubled about something or occupied with so much activity that I am seeing tendencies of not meeting up.

Recently, I discovered that I am forgetting little details about people so easily. I battle to recall people's names and it's somehow embarrassing. Imagine meeting someone in the neighborhood that used to be cool with you and then you can't recall their names.

It has been one of the things that I am struggling with, although I have been looking for means to fight it but so far, I have not gotten any reasonable outcome.

The last time I forgot something very important was a few days ago, my neighbor was going to travel in the afternoon, and she didn't have power in her apartment, so she brought her phone to help charge for her before the afternoon when she would travel.

She gave me 12:00 Pm as the time that she would come and collect the phone and I assured her that I'll be around.

That day, I had some work to do online and it was going to take me quite some time, so I had that assurance that I would be home.

I started the work without hesitation and some minutes into it, inspiration was not forthcoming, I tried all I could to no avail.

My mood became ruined and I decided to take a walk as usual like I always do when I am facing any difficulty. I walked down one of the government schools that was in our area and there is no MTN network around the area.

I sat down there like a joke and I spent hours without noticing it. At around 3 pm I got tired of the place and decided to come home. It was when I got to the place where there was a network that my neighbor's daughter called.

As soon as I saw the call I remembered that her Mom's phone was with me and she was traveling. I picked up and apologized and hastened up.

When I got home, the woman had already sent her son and he was waiting by my door. After giving him the phone, I had to follow him to the house to apologize, she seemed a bit upset but I explained things to her.

Because of me, she had to postpone the journey to the next day. I felt really bad about it. However, I still managed and did my work online because I have positioned myself to always do what's ahead of me no matter how I feel.

After that day, the woman didn't bring the phone to charge at my place again. It made me feel bad but I understand.

Seriously, the only thing I am doing concerning forgetting things is to write them down.

If you enter my room you will see pieces of paper containing information on things I am to do for the day, especially important ones.

If I have anything to do and I don't trust myself too well to remember it, I kindly write it and keep it on my table because It's one of the busiest areas in my room. It's easy to come to the area and spot the paper then get into action.

Thanks For Reading

It's well, at least you tried to make amends by explaining your position and apologising.

The both of you would have felt bad that day. It was nice of you to have apologized and explained to her.

Maybe fate wanted her to postpone her travel…. Who knows.

My bro also did the same to my mom, left unintentionally with her phone and she was to travel the next day. We called and called not available that she had to cancel her trip but he sure apologized.
