Being Good Or Bad Is By Choice

A philosopher, John Locke described the heart of a child as a blank slate. Meaning that the child comes into the world with a clean heart, ignorant of everything. According to him, the heart is furnished by experience.

If you take a proper look at what he proposed, there is truth in it. No one was born talking, we learned whatever language we are using today from our environment.

We weren't born walking, we learned it. If at all we saw our parents crawling, that's exactly what we would have been doing today.

We are born with different abilities but those abilities will forever remain dormant if they are not given life.

Here is what I mean, we have the ability to become whatever we want but we can not become that thing without learning them and willingly deciding to use them.

There are so many possibilities in humans but only the ones we know and explore become alive.

Every child is born that way, having the ability to either become good or bad but what they learn and choose becomes their personality.

No one is born either evil or good. We have the potential in us but It is what we learn and accept that shapes us.

So many other things influence people's traits but choice is the greatest of them all.

I know people who came from terrible backgrounds, who lived in toxic environments, who came from bad homes with terrible upbringings but they are good.

Their lifestyles are different from that of their homes and their environments. They grew up in a dark environment but their lives are reflecting light.

There are also people who came from decent environments and homes, in fact, their parents were even religious leaders. They had the best home training, but their lives are reflecting the opposite of where they came from.

Does this mean that their parents didn't do their jobs well? No, the area of training was fulfilled, but the area of choice was corrupted.

Families and the environment only have the power to suggest the way one should tread, but they don't have the power to make choices for themselves.

Whatever anyone becomes, whether good or bad, was their choice. If you see a person with good traits, the person chose to be that way. And if you see anyone with a terrible trait, it is still a choice.

Some people say that growing up in something bad has the potency of making one bad, yes, it's true but you still have a choice even in that situation.

Each of us has knowledge about good and evil, regardless of where we hail from, it is our responsibility to choose which path to take in life.

No one was born good, no one was born evil, we learn to become either good or evil by choice.

Is There A Blueprint To Have A Good Child?

The truth is, this is not assured as no parents can choose for a child the way he/she should go. The parent can only give the child a plus by giving them proper training. It would make the journey easy for them as they already have a foundation to build upon.

Apart from this, honestly, I don't think there is any other formula because we don't have the power to choose for anyone. Even if you give a person the best training in the world, they can still choose not to go by it and for that, you don't have to blame yourself.

As a parent, play your role well, pray for your child, teach them the right way to go and when they reach the age of understanding let them choose for themselves.
