The Dark Side of Social Media Monetization: When Money Talks, Authenticity Walks
There is this topic I saw flying around about social media monetization by hive learners if am not mistaken which , I want to talk about in my own perspective, it has been something that's been on my mind lately as we are in the era of deep fake and AI chat bots as the unintended consequences of social media monetization has open the flood gates too all entities are to come in as a content creator, I've seen firsthand how the pursuit of likes, followers, and dollars can lead to some pretty weird and wonderful (or not-so-wonderful) outcomes.
Let's face it: social media is a beast that's constantly evolving without one know how far the content can go and who it may affect either positively or negatively for most influencers it's all about the algorithm while some will say, it's all about the content. Which at the midst of all this chaos, we end up creating a culture of monetization that's both fascinating and frightening as the same time as many content creators fails to verify the source of their information since everyone is trying to grab the limited space available for earning one tends to publish unverified information just to get attention from the monitization algorithm.
On the one hand, social media has democratized the way we create and consume content just like we have here on hive which is also built on a blockchain having it's own algorithm for distributing value to contents which comes from a rewards pool, Anyone can be a creator, and anyone can be a consumer on the blockchain in this perspective. But on the other hand, this democratization and decentralization has led to a Wild West of sorts, where the loudest voices and highest stakes manipulates the system to suit their needs and sometimes not most sensational content get the most attention as they are not withen the spectrum of the general curators.
And last but not the least is then the money,Oh yes that they say is the root of all evil but I will say it's lack of the money that is the root of evil as most people do anything literally just to make a little change for their survival without thinking about the consequences that might emaluate from it later. When social media started getting monetized, it was a game-changer for many creators who has been in the game and has paid the price building their network and has also created a system where people are incentivized to create value from thier content that's more than just for clickbait.
In conclusion I think one of the solution to How we balance this social media fiesta is for us to verify the content creator for authenticity and source of the data as to help streamline the quantity and quality of the information being passed with the need for monetization if the information is valid before allowing the content being published to the general public. Also as a content consumer , it's about being mindful of the content i create and consume by focusing on building genuine communities, rather than just chasing likes and followers without proper engagement and connection with one's audience.
Whats your thoughts on this ? Am I just ranting, or do you see what I see? Let me know in the comments below.
The balance between monetization and authenticity on social media is a crucial n hard issue🤔💬 #SocialMedia #Monetization
With all the wealth of content on the web, it is interesting to see that authenticity is something that is equally noticeable in content creators. It's good to have that reputation and take care of our authenticity. Regards @elopinky
Bring authentic these days is usually easier to check using anti chat bot detector and other available AI
Oh well, verifying the content Creator's authenticity is a very good point because these days, many influencers tend to promote bad products knowing that people will buy it and most of the time they never get called out for it. It's all about lying and getting paid for them.
It's anything for the clicks unfortunately almost everyone is guilty on this
True.
Truly content creators who promote fake products to get paid will definitely not go far in life because when the stones turns around they will fall, including the producers of the products.
There is nothing like being authentic and original.
