Sometimes we find ourselves imagining things that are impossible in the real world. I've often found myself dreaming about the possibility of traveling back in time and revisiting my childhood. Everything seemed magical back then, in a time when we didn't have access to the internet or cell phones. The food tasted more authentic, more refined, it was simply delicious.

When I think back, I realize how rich we were in simple experiences, but we didn't know it. Children played in the streets, in healthy, collective games such as police and thief, tag, hide and seek, among many others. It was impossible to be left out, everyone wanted to take part.

Today, it seems that children don't even know what real play is anymore. Their fun revolves around screens, cell phones, the internet, video games and social networks. When I look at this new generation, it's strange to see how they behave so differently from me, and I'm not even that old.

If I could bring something back from the past, it would be precisely what is lacking today: a simpler life, with less technology and more human interaction. People had time to talk, laugh and play together. Food was healthier, tasted better and, what's more, it was cheaper. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to go back in time with today's money and buy those quality products that are now almost non-existent.

Back then, for example, sausages like calabrese were really calabrese, with a distinctive flavor and real ingredients. Today, many brands have changed their formulas to increase profits, and what we have is a “Calabrian sausage”, full of fat and additives that are harmful to health. Other foods have also lost their essence, such as yogurts, milks and butters. When I was a kid, these products had an intense, real taste. Of course, our taste buds change over time, but it's still clear that the quality has dropped.

The 1990s and early 2000s were a golden age for me. People lived more lightly, without so many worries about economic crises, political disputes and social problems magnified by the media. Of course, difficulties have always existed, but without the excess of information and pressure, it was easier to get on with life happily. It's like a long-term investor who, if he pays too much attention to the daily news, ends up making rash decisions, often influenced by a media that prioritizes audience over truth.

I recognize that technology has brought many benefits to the population, but it has also transformed, and in some ways worsened, the way we live. If people could, if only for a moment, go back in time and experience that simpler life, with quality food, fair prices and real interactions, that would be a real dream.

Às vezes, nos pegamos imaginando coisas impossíveis de acontecer no mundo real. Eu, por muitas vezes, já me vi sonhando com a possibilidade de viajar no tempo e revisitar minha infância. Tudo parecia mágico naquela época, em um tempo em que não tínhamos acesso à internet, tampouco a celulares. A comida tinha um sabor mais autêntico, mais apurado, era simplesmente deliciosa.

Quando penso no passado, percebo como éramos ricos em experiências simples, mas não sabíamos disso. As crianças brincavam nas ruas, em jogos saudáveis e coletivos como polícia e ladrão, pega-pega, esconde-esconde, entre muitos outros. Era impossível ficar de fora, todos queriam participar.

Hoje, parece que as crianças nem sabem mais o que é brincar de verdade. Sua diversão gira em torno das telas, celulares, internet, videogames e redes sociais. Quando olho para essa nova geração, é estranho ver como se comportam de maneira tão diferente da minha, e olha que nem sou tão velho assim.

Se eu pudesse trazer algo de volta do passado, seria justamente aquilo que hoje faz falta, uma vida mais simples, com menos tecnologia e mais interação humana. As pessoas tinham tempo para conversar, rir e brincar juntas. A comida era mais saudável, tinha mais sabor e, ainda por cima, era mais barata. Às vezes, fico imaginando como seria voltar no tempo com o dinheiro de hoje e comprar aqueles produtos de qualidade que, atualmente, quase não existem mais.

Naquela época, por exemplo, embutidos como calabresa eram realmente calabresa, com sabor marcante e ingredientes de verdade. Hoje, muitas marcas mudaram suas fórmulas para aumentar o lucro, e o que temos é uma “linguiça tipo calabresa”, cheia de gordura e aditivos prejudiciais à saúde. Outros alimentos também perderam sua essência, como os iogurtes, leites e manteigas. Quando eu era garoto, esses produtos tinham um gosto intenso, verdadeiro. Claro que, com o tempo, nosso paladar muda, mas mesmo assim é evidente que a qualidade caiu.

Os anos 90 e início dos anos 2000 foram, para mim, uma era de ouro. As pessoas viviam de forma mais leve, sem tantas preocupações com crises econômicas, disputas políticas e problemas sociais potencializados pela midias. É claro que dificuldades sempre existiram, mas, sem o excesso de informações e pressões, era mais fácil seguir a vida com alegria. É como um investidor de longo prazo que, se prestar atenção demais nas notícias diárias, acaba tomando decisões precipitadas, muitas vezes influenciado por uma mídia que prioriza a audiência em vez da verdade.

Reconheço que a tecnologia trouxe muitos benefícios para a população, mas também transformou, e, em certos aspectos, piorou a forma como vivemos. Se as pessoas pudessem, nem que fosse por um instante, voltar no tempo e experimentar aquela vida mais simples, com alimentos de qualidade, preços justos e interações reais, isso seria um verdadeiro sonho.
