Pay Gets Delayed!!!
I just found out that there are some bosses who thrive on the feeling that being in charge gives them. They love being the ones to call the shots, they love being in charge of the lives and livelihood of other people. And for some reason, they get off on it. I think it has to do with the fact that the people who work for them, rely on the salaries the bosses provide to get from day to day.
And as a result, this causes them to always act out. They would always want to show their power and remind everyone that they’re the boss, and sometimes, they do all these even at the cost of their own establishment. Like, how is that even smart?
I just found out that some bosses intentionally withhold salaries from their workers. They delay the payment, not because the business is going through some tough time, not because there is one error or problem that needs to be fixed, but simply because they feel like it. They just withhold the money until they decide to release it.
And just like that, the workers would have to suffer for it. Because then, they would have to borrow money to make do as they wait for their next pay. Because of course, this delay was not envisioned by the employee, and it has scattered everything they had planned, forcing them to take drastic measures. And that is how many people get into debt.
Now, I’m not saying all bosses are like that. On the contrary, there are companies and businesses that pride themselves on always paying on time. No matter what, they make sure that everyone gets their money on time. Also, I’m not saying that every time there’s a delay in payment, the boss is the one withholding it. There are times when genuine reasons could arise and payments for that month could be delayed. It happens even to the biggest companies, no matter how careful people are, mistakes are bound to happen at one time or the other.
What even made me talk about this was because I overheard someone talking about it. I was at the supermarket when I overheard two people gisting each other, one of them was talking about how her uncle just loved to show off and remind people that he was in charge. He used to do it at family gatherings; coming late, and being aloof because he was the most successful. But soon, everyone simply left him to his devices and stopped inviting him unless it was very important. And if he chose to come late, they would start without him.
It soon got to his business. According to the lady, the business was thriving, but every month, his workers were owed. When anyone complained, they would be told to leave if they weren’t willing to be patient. Knowing how hard it is to get a job in present-day Nigeria, many people would rather stick around than leave. Because after all, a bird in hand is worth two in the bush. It’s sad, really.
I know that I can’t really use this case to judge every business that owes their employers. Like I said before, there could be genuine reasons why such things happen, I can’t deny that. However, in situations where it keeps repeating itself for four months, five months, six months… it’s no longer a normal situation, is it?
The country is hard and it’s taking a swipe at everyone, businesses are crumbling and keeping it running is a hassle. However, we shouldn’t let that stop us from doing the right thing. Workers should be paid their due wages, and if you’re the kind of boss that delays on paying salaries… I hope you make the right choice. Because a happy employee would make for a happy company. And that would lead to profits.
Or so I hope.

My last office job was quite enjoyable. I love to make financial plans over my salary and have it done just like it was planned and not one boss withholding what I have worked for unnecessarily. Some people are just selfish without knowing that their actions will gradually bring down their business. My former boss pays salaries every 25th of each month. For good three years I worked for him, he remained consistent with this salary date. I don't know how did it..not that bank pays on his behalf of..he does it with his bank app himself, and we the staffs were always happy and excited to give in our best..lol
So, it doesn't make sense delaying salary for no reason..
As in ehn... when everything moves smoothly, the workers will be happy to work and also be able to plan themselves out. Omo, some bosses are not fair, at all.
Bosses have lots of Money and the salary of employee's people is a very little money for them and many bosses don't take it seriously. Again some bosses delay to pay because they use the money to generate more money for themselves. They don't care too much about employee..
Yeah... that's why they really don't care about what happens to the people when they delay the payments. It's just sad.
This is the mean reason why I don't want to work for anyone. I would rather be self employed because I don't want their problems. They enjoy doing it to their staff and they don't care about the family of that staff.
God will help us.
Thanks for sharing
God will help us ooo... because in this part of the world, it's hard to find an agency that will regulate such things.
It's happening in a lot of organizations and I find it really annoying. I taught in a school like that after secondary school and because the majority of the teachers live in the community and have a relationship with the proprietor, this woman does intentionally owe us.
I endured for a while and finally quit. Surprisingly, this woman came to report to my mom that I left without informing her.
I made it clear to her that she can't be owing me just because we call her mommy. She promised to make amendment but it was too late by then.
I really don't know the joy they derive from owing but it makes no sense
Hehe... she was using "Mummy" as a means to exploit you guys. Instead of her to use it as a reason to pay you on time and take care of their staff. It's sad that many of them have the money, they simply just choose to owe their staff. As in... what the eff???

In present day Nigeria, over 40% of employers believe they're doing employees a favour by giving them a job. Due to that, they see themselves as benefactors that must be worshipped at all times. Afterall, no matter how terrible a job is, our overpopulation has made sure people are always queuing up for it.
In my last offline work, the business owner hated my gut simply because I wasn't hero-worshipping him. He couldn't cut me off because my service was worth way more than the salary. But he never hid the fact that he disliked the way I wasn't running around, like other employees, to "show him love."
As in ehn... what kind of mentality is that? You pay me, I deliver service. Who is helping who?
As in ehn, purposely beefing your most valuable employer because he's not a bootlicker is just crazy. But doesn't he know that the actual bootlickers won't be delivering well on the job? They can mess up and they will be sure that once they give him small whining, they would be left off the hook.
Omo...😂
