Public Scrutiny

A lot has been happening in my country recently, from President Trump threatening invasion in favor of the Christians against Muslims to increased banditry in the north.

So far, a brigadier general was shot dead, school children abducted, and a parish priest kidnapped. While all these are happening, there is a northern governor who happens to be a reverend father claiming that there is no insurgency in his state, which ironically happens to be among the worst hit.

Notably, in the heat of the whole unrest, emotions are heightened, and we see the masses looking for whom to pour their frustrations on.

Recently a popular pastor and YouTuber was wildly attacked on social media for his choice of words during his call-out of the Nigerian government. Some aggrieved Nigerians felt he was being mischievous by not calling out the government directly in his tweet.

As he came under a heavy backlash, old news was being brought to the present, and it was discovered that this current administration gave his wife an appointment. Immediately people started speculating that he intentionally did not mention the present administration in his call out because he and his wife are beneficiaries.

Understandably, the fight for a better Nigeria is gradually becoming a hoax as everyone is just after their pocket and selfish interest. You know nothing grinds my gear than seeing people becoming rich at the expense or suffering of another.

It's almost like for everytime that the rich gets richer, there are some group of people who has been left impoverished and oppressed

Take, for example, the United States attack on Libya. I remember how excited Hillary Clinton was in her statement after Gadaffi's death. According to her, they came, they saw and they conquered. But what she forgot to add was that they destroyed lives.

Again, when the US government landed in Afghanistan to fight off the Taliban and eventually left Afghanistan at the mercy of the Taliban after decades of holding the frontline for them, I watched how the people of Afghanistan tripped over themselves just to be part of the US plane flying out of Afghanistan that night.

Just some few days back, I was watching the news and saw how the Israelis were running for their lives and abandoning their homes because they were informed of an impending bomb blast. This reminded me of the crisis in my state when I was a child. I immediately scrolled pass the video to avoid traunatic triggers.

Again, yesterday I was discussing politics with my friend and I told her that no terrorist organization or insurgency is bigget than the government. I also told her that whatever lingers has the government fueling it. Sadly, this has become the reality of most countries in the world today.

And while the masses suffer, the leaders are shielded from sharing in that suffering themselves. It's almost like a hopeless situation when talking about solutions but then if there's one thing I have come to realize in my entire existence is that oppression and manipulation cannot survive amidst unity and enlightenment.

If there is any shot at the good life that we can experience or boast of collectively as inhabitants of planet earth, it would be mental emancipation and looking beyond the division embeded in religion, tribe and politics.
