Age gap in marriage is dependent on Choice.

Marriage is a union between two consenting adults who should have attained economic, social, financial and emotional maturity and are able to take on the responsibilities that come with marriage.

There was never a time in culture where a marriage ceased or ended because of age gap. In fact, there is a particular tribe in my country that marry off young girls to very old men. This tribe happens to be the Fulani tribe of Northern Nigeria. As soon as a baby girl is born, they immediately arrange her marriage to an older man, betrothing that innocent child to an older man until she attains puberty. Once she attains puberty with a clear sign of menstruation, she will be sent off as a child bride to meet her husband who would have also advanced in age over time.

Thankfully,the intervention of education is gradually curbing such practices.

In such a tribe, it t is seen as a blessing if a very older man should get married to a young girl. It is interpreted to be that the husband would always and automatically command respect from his young wife and so far, this idea has worked out for them.

I don't agree with making age gap range in marriage a rule as doing so would infringe on the rights to freedom of choice of individuals. It can even become problematic in the long run.

Everyone has their particular and peculiar tastes that they desire in their life partner. I have even heard a lady by chance once who said boldly that she likes older men as they will paper her like a child. Hmm, different strokes for different folks guys

Personally, I would not subscribe to marrying someone who is way older than I am , say about twenty to thirty years in the age gap. Nor would I subscribe to marrying a fellow who is also very younger than I am. I prefer either of same age or a few years seniority gap. This is just my personal taste and preference.

If such a rule like age gap range in marriage is established, I believe it would lead to chaos as it doesn't support the very core values on which marriage should be established. The core foundational values of marriage are love and commitment. It doesn't matter what anyone says, if these values are absent, that marriage becomes nothing more than a Sham or a business contract.

You also need to be friends with the person you are getting married and like them otherwise,* How would you kiss and play the bedroom game?*

When love, understanding, tolerance, friendship and maturity are at play between a couple, what concerns age in the matter? They can go ahead and get married if neither of them minds the age gap and they are fine with it.

A popular actress in my country, married a man whom I would say is old enough to be her grand uncle. Yet she poses with him virtually everywhere unashamedly and she enjoys the man's billions while making a family with him even though she is the man's sixth wife.

I usually don't meddle in matters of the heart because the matter of the heart is the heart of the matter (if you get it, you get it 😁). Relationship matters are usually very dicey and one should approach them and thread with caution.

But I will also add this fact and that is marriage is not for babies or immatures. Marriage requires work in order for it to be maintained and enjoyed in the long run, especially after the honeymoon phase. So things like age gap will be irrelevant when the necessary marital requirements are in order.
