Me and My Dressing

(Edited)

The other day we were watching a drama. There was a character of a royal lady. She looked pretty tall among all other female characters.

I asked myself if she is really taller than others or there is something else that makes her look distinguished.

In scenes where she was standing right beside other actresses, it was clearly visible that her height wasn’t that high from others. “Then what is the thing that adds inches to her appearance?” I thought.

The first thing that came to my mind as the answer was her attire. Yes, the dress she was wearing had a lot to do in designing her personality.

Was her dress too much different from other characters? Mmmmmm. Not that much. Yes it had royal touch but there were some other characters dressed up in royal fashion.

However, her head-wear was clearly distinguished from all the other characters. It surely had a portion to add in her unique appearance.

Nonetheless, I don’t think that a dress alone is enough to give you a charismatic appearance. I have seen two people wearing the same dress. One looks outstanding while the other one looks just ordinary.

It is not necessary that something looking cool on someone else would give the same effect to me. The result might be opposite.

While dressing up it is quite important to keep your body's shape and size in consideration. There was a time when I was slim, short Kurti and trousers suited me. Now, when I have gained weight, the style doesn’t suit me at all. I have replaced those short kurtis with longer shirts.

I have seen this happening quite often that people tend to follow the trends blindly whether or not it suits them. Consequently, it impacts negatively on their looks.

While it is important to select an apt dress for your body’s requirements, it is also crucial to learn the art of carrying it.

An upright body posture gives you a confident look. Along with it facial expressions and moment of body parts from head to toes add to your dressing sense.

I am not someone who gathers piles of dresses in my wardrobe and remain confused in deciding what should be worn.

I keep on removing the clutter by giving away the dresses that no longer fit or suit me. This way not only space is created in the cupboard but also selection of a dress is becomes easier.

I am a house wife and a stay-at-home mother. For casual wear, the selection is easier than ABC. I just select a dress that suits the weather. A clean and ironed dress goes well.

As I mentioned before, I don’t keep that much dresses; so dressing up for a formal gathering is not a difficult task either.

For parties and gatherings I have a small selection of fancy dresses kept in a separate shelf.

It takes only a few minutes to decide which dress would suit the demand of the gathering.

For a function like wedding ceremonies, I select brighter and heavier dresses. For get together kind of gatherings, I go for lighter dresses.

This way “less is more” formula helps saving my day while selecting a dress to put on. How about you?

In fact, if you have less clothes, you don't have to worry about what clothes to wear to a gathering or function and you have done a great job keeping the function clothes in a separate place. It does not waste your time

Yeah, it saves both, the time and the dresses. 🙂

I heard somewhere that dressing is more of an art than a science. But from my observation, many of us neglect the science of it. People like to move with the trends even when it doesn't categorically suit them. For me, I like to take not more than a minute to decide what to wear, especially during occasions.

Dressing is a sense in which we cannot apply a 2+2 formula. There is a need of aesthetics as well as wisdom of what suits.

No wonder it is very easy for you to pick up what to wear, I love your simple lifestyle and your generosity, there are people who have a lot of clothes that they don't use anymore yet they don't give them out until the eventually wear out completely.

Following trends is good if one can cope but it can make one look ordinary like you said instead of outstanding if it is not done with wisdom. Knowing what fits our bodies can go a long way in making us look good and comfortable in our wears

This is just the perfect answer I need to my dressing dilemma.
Getting a well sorted wardrope is really important.
It makes selecting what to wear easy just like you have done yours.
And keeping too many clothes is a lot of stress that is certain.

I remember thinking to myself several times
“why do I keep adding to my wardrobe and making it harder to select what to wear?”

Growing up we had a limited amount of clothing we were allowed to get for every new school year (due to limited finances). When I became an adult with my own money I got a bit carried away with buying new clothing and building up the wardrobe I’ve always wanted. Now that I’m older and have experienced the shopping sprees I have calmed down quite a bit. I too give clothes away that no longer suit me or fit to my desire. Being a stay at home mom myself, I mainly wear comfy clothing around the house all day and rarely get to dress up nowadays. When I do get to wear a dress my strategy is similar to yours and how you pick out your wardrobe.

I have seen this happening quite often that people tend to follow the trends blindly whether or not it suits them. Consequently, it impacts negatively on their looks.

I notice this a lot too. I am very conscious of the things I wear and try to stay as modest as possible. I am aware of things that don’t fit my body type well and won’t force the look based on what’s trending.

Letting go of things is the formula to simple and easy life, isn’t it?
It's true that we are at times very possessive about our belongings so that we are not ready to give them off but when we finally accomplish the feat, we are at ease.

I am aware of things that don’t fit my body type well and won’t force the look based on what’s trending.

That's the wisdom. 🙂

It's great pleasure to have you around. 😀

I think i must show this post to my mama as well that mama look people don’t keep dresses that are of no use now and you have spared a whole cupboard just for dresses that you wore back in your bachelor life ,that i wore when i was 3 years old ,that baba used to attire when he was young😅

Yes i also agree that attires and body postures are the things that should be matched . You can’t wear stuff which isn’t made for you just because you felt that one suiting on someone..

That's the problem of several people of our society. They love their belongings so so much that they are not ready to give them away at any cost no matter how useless they may be.

I once went through a meme "jitna kabara hamaray ghr ki chatoun pr he agr hm sb wo baich dain tou mulk ka qarz utr jae" . Unfortunately, that's how we are. Amma ki amma ki amma ka ghrara bhi milay ga almari me. Is trah hm sirf apni zindagi ko mushkil bnatay hain
