Living the best out of a stressful life.

As humans, we tend to continue living. Finding a way to survive has been our utmost responsibility. Though it seems like living is a choice, the reality is that problems never end.

I remembered some years ago when I was sitting for a JAMB examination to gain admission into a higher institution. I tried several times to make sure I got admitted by all means possible, and this is because I want to leave home and stay away from the stress at all costs.

The mindset I had was that once I am away from home and I am on my own, then I can gain the freedom I need so much and be free from whatever has been the cause of stress. There is no resting time for me. Any little free time I have to rest or sleep will always get disturbed somehow. So I had made up my mind to just endure and aim better.

With time, I got admitted and felt I already gained the freedom I needed, and I was so happy leaving for somewhere better and peace. Little did I know that the next phase would even become more stressful.

I started with the admission process, and that was when it began to dawn on me that I had even signed up for a more advanced, stressful lifestyle. But despite that, I still tried to find the best way to avoid the stressful way of life I embarked on so as not to get overwhelmed with it.

Life continued that same way, and with time, I realized that stress has been something so inevitable in our daily lives. We just have to figure out ways to avoid them as much as we can.

Some ways I tried to avoid stress are just sleeping, resting, listening, and meditating.

Sleeping has been one of the most effective methods I have gotten myself involved with, and after a peaceful sleep, I am always free from the heavy burden or stress I have on me. But there are times when it is hard to sleep at the right time. Times like this are when I will have to watch a movie, then at some point, I will surely feel sleepy.

Resting is something I feel a little closer to sleeping, but kinda different. When I rest, I don't have all of my worries zeroed. But I just have my mind settled. I can rest while sitting or lying down.

Listening to music has also proved to be an effective stress relief for me. Especially when I listen to music that has lyrics that deal with my situation at that moment, then I am surely putting it on repeat.

Lastly, there is mediating. This is not something to do consistently; I only meditate occasionally. At times, I take a walk and change my present environment. Which has proven to be a great stress reliever for me.

In conclusion, stress is inevitable most times. But we just have to live on. You can only try as much to stay away from getting overwhelmed by it. But you can’t totally stay away from it.

This is my response to the HIVE LEARNERS weekly prompt in the hive-learners community for the Week 189 Edition 2, and the topic to be discussed is AVOIDING STRESS.

When I have things on my mind, I’d automatically not be able to sleep and I would most likely just toss and turn all night.
Sadly, that’s just how I am.

Honestly, you're right. Stress we can't avoid stress no matter what. Anytime I'm stressed is either I sleep, listen to music or watch movies.
