Sublime Sunday: Finding Peace Beyond Expectations

Yesterday evening, I reached out to one of my close friends and poured my heart out to her, expressing how I feel over something that burdens my heart. She didn't reply in detail yesterday but promised to talk to me this morning over the matter.

One thing I have discovered about me is that I always seek a second opinion from trusted friends before reaching a conclusion over an issue. At times I discover that I conclude certain issues due to my emotions, and for me not to allow my emotions to cloud my sense of reasoning, reaching out to someone I trust has been a lifesaver to me.

You know the feeling of sincerely working with people, putting in undiluted effort, and in turn they don't value such effort. They act in a way that makes you look used, and such a feeling can be so demoralizing. I feel like it is nice to be good, socialize with people, and contribute to achieving a desirable goal, but one thing I fail to understand is that humans can easily disappoint us. Putting our hope and trust in humans can only make us feel betrayed and bitter. It's only God that never disappoints, and so, some expectations from humans can make one give up when such expectations are crushed.

It's not as if I don't know that placing high expectations on people is wrong, but there are some close friends I feel that they know the right thing to do since we claim to be one, but I was wrong! No empathy. This is what if I am in their position? I wouldn't dream of doing it to them, but thanks to my friends who I reached out to. She cleared my wondering mind and made me see the divine reality.

She first dropped a powerful voice message to me, which I have played three times to digest her advice and encouragement. As you can see in the screenshot of the scripture verse above, it spoke to me directly and exactly about my current situation. But thank God for using this friend to remind me of this. No need to give up, no need to be discouraged, no need to stop doing good as long as I can, and no more expectations from anyone, be it close friends or family. I think it's the best lifestyle to adopt and live peacefully and freely.

It's been a reflection moment for me, and of course, it's a sublime Sunday, relaxing, reflecting, and unwinding. All thanks to @c0ff33a for this initiative.

hearing that you re;played your friend's voice note three times tells me the message really sank in. When people treat effort like it is disposable, it stings, but choosing boundaries and still doing good without hte heavy expectations is a strong reset. It is like balancing books after a messy month, slow at first then calm, and your choice today looks like profit in peace.

God will never disappoint. Sometimes we give our all to people, and in the end, they don’t see it, it really hurts. I love how you reached out to a friend and found understanding.

My dear if you attach so much importance in people's treatment to you, you'll deprive yourself so much of your happiness.

Humans can always be very annoying and disappointing. I have that at the back of my mind always so I don't get too troubled if the reverse reaction happens.

Thanks for having great friends who are there to guide you and give helpful advice

While it's good to have someone we can talk too, we should also make sure we pour out of heart out to our maker and has you've done, I'm certain he won't disappoint you non let you down.

It's good not to hope too much from others but sometimes we can simply share things with friends. At least, they can give us some suggestion.
