Fun facts about National Coffee Days.

Hello, coffee lovers! 😃☕

Today, September 29th, my search bar suggested I look up National Coffee Day. It caught my attention and I started researching.

It turns out it’s Coffee Day in the United States. According to barinopia.com, it originated from the 1983 proclamation by the All Japan Coffee Association that coffee consumption increases in the country during autumn and winter. And since October 1st was later promoted as International Coffee Day by the International Coffee Organization, the U.S. reserved this date for itself. I imagine New York City cafés must have wonderful offers for this celebration. It must be a dream.
Where I live, Brazil, Coffee Day has been celebrated on May 24th since 2005 to mark the beginning of the harvest, to recognize the cultural importance of the drink in the country, and to honor the work of baristas in its preparation (according to globo.com).
In my research, Colombia also appeared — one of the countries with the most beloved coffee in the world. There, according to calendariodecolombia.com, it is celebrated on June 27th, in commemoration of the founding of the National Federation of Coffee Growers in 1927, while also highlighting the crucial role of coffee in Colombian identity. Fortunately, I have friends from that country, and a few months ago I received a beautiful gift from one of them: a lovely package of Colombian export coffee. An unforgettable declaration of love and friendship, don’t you think?

These are dates I’ll be writing down so I can have little coffee celebrations.
Today I’m back at the university, and here I’m having my first dose of the day to celebrate.
