The Coffee Shop Prompt/ Week 153: Coffee in the cold in Cuba (ENG-ESP)

In Guanabacoa (Cuba), I don’t have a favorite café because there are many places here to sit, hang out with friends, and enjoy peace and quiet. Rather, I leave my house because I like the hustle and bustle; generally, Cubans get bored when there is too much silence, especially the young people. So almost everywhere there is someone selling coffee, whether in a café or on the balcony of a house. It’s a profitable business in Cuba. 😁

There is a café (La Mulata) I currently frequent because it’s near a park with public WiFi, and I like the coffee they sell there. It’s near the highway, so there is a lot of activity since there are other businesses in the same place, and sometimes they play music at full volume.

The girl who serves at the café is very polite and kind, so I always come back to buy not only coffee but also some of her other offerings. There is always someone to chat with, and I like it because Cubans are always looking for places that sell food at slightly lower prices or where they can find something that isn’t available anywhere else; and by talking with strangers, you learn about things like that. 😁 Although these days, since it’s cold, there aren’t many people on the streets.

These days I enjoy taking a little coffee break here and there to warm up because it’s quite cold in Cuba. Thankfully, we have this café near the WiFi park, as many people come here to get a better internet connection.

In the images I shared on this blog, you can see two of the cafés I’ve been visiting these days. Coffee is very comforting in the cold, especially for people who have to go out for one reason or another. Also, homemade Cuban coffee has always been very popular.

En Guanabacoa (Cuba), no tengo una cafetería favorita, porque aquí hay muchos lugares para sentarse, pasarla con amigos y disfrutar de paz y tranquilidad. Más bien salgo de mi casa porque me gusta el movimiento; generalmente, el cubano se aburre cuando hay mucho silencio, especialmente los jóvenes. Así que en casi todas partes hay alguien que vende café, ya sea en una cafetería o en el balcón de una casa. Es un negocio rentable en Cuba. 😁

Hay una cafetería (La Mulata) que frecuento actualmente porque queda cerca de un parque con WiFi pública y me gusta el café que venden ahí. Está cerca de la carretera, por lo que hay mucho movimiento, ya que hay otros negocios en el mismo lugar y a veces ponen música a todo volumen.

La muchacha que atiende en la cafetería es muy educada y amable, por lo que siempre regreso a comprarle no solo café, sino también otras de sus ofertas. Siempre hay una que otra persona con quien uno se pone a conversar, y me gusta, porque el cubano siempre está buscando dónde venden comida a precios un poco más bajos, o dónde sacan algo que no se encuentra en ninguna otra parte; y conversando con desconocidos te enteras de cosas así. 😁 Aunque por estos días, como hace frío, no hay mucha gente en la calle.

Por estos días disfruto de la pausa de tomarme un cafecito aquí o allá para calentar mi cuerpo porque hace bastante frío en Cuba. Y menos mal que tenemos esta cafetería cerca del parque WiFi, pues mucha gente viene aquí a conectarse mejor a internet.

En las imágenes que compartí en este blog se pueden ver dos de las cafeterías que he frecuentado por estos días. El café es muy reconfortante en el frío, sobre todo para las personas que tienen que salir a la calle por una razón u otra. Además, el café casero cubano siempre ha gozado de buena popularidad.
