Happy Chu'ing! | My Kids Find Their New Favorite Tea Shop

A very, very random decision.

The other night when the fam was out for a walk, Little Miss blurted out, "Hey, let's get boba tea!" as we passed by one small tea shop. "We've literally passed this shop a hundred times, but we've never entered it," she even added. LOL. And that was true.

We anyhow proceeded with our evening walk as we planned yet I knew that they still wanted to get the boba tea. So we passed by there on our way home.

Chu

The tea shop is called Chu (as in chew). It is a small shop by the main road yet can easily be overlooked (maybe by me only?). Some time back, I even shared a picture of its front door for a something yellow challenge of the ASEAN Hive Community.

It already screams aesthetic design from the outside. Let's see what's inside.

As I said, it is a rather small shop but it is neatly designed and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. It immediately exuded a warm vibe as soon as we entered.

Directly at the front of the door is the counter and at the right, there are a few seats for the customers. It is very intimate. There are only 8 seats here if I counted correctly.

Freshly Brewed Tea.

The kids wanted boba milk tea. Their menu was displayed on the tablet at the counter. It was not hard to choose as they do not have all those fancy flavors other milk tea shops have. It is, however, on a more expensive side. A small cup is AED 30 (~$8). I know. I have 3 kids, so that's 90 frikin dirhams!

Thankfully, they are currently running a promotion of 50% off on some of the drinks on their menu. Whew.

Little Miss chose brown sugar milk tea, while the boys ordered the original milk tea.

Guess what, I did not expect something fancy - like they use freshly brewed tea on their milk tea! I thought it was something like just a tea bag of sorts.

The Viral Dubai Chocolate

Have you heard of the viral Dubai chocolate? I'm sure most of you have. It literally exploded on the internet last year. Guess what, I haven't tried it yet. Pffft!

I noticed that they have the chocolate kunafah milk tea on their menu. Unfortunately, it was not included in the discounted items so I did not order. LOL. But I'm really keen to try it. Hmmm, maybe next time.

Cookies?

While waiting for our milk tea, I couldn't help but check out the cookies and muffins that were on display. Deyyyumm, the triple chocolate chip cookies really look appetizing.

So I could not be stopped, I ordered a triple chocolate chip cookie and a matcha chocolate cookie. The barista was generous enough to give me a free lavender chocolate cookie.

I got 3 cookies for AED 22 ($6). They have TRIO cookies listed on their menu for AED 27. Nice. I got a few dirhams saved! <3

The barista handed the cookies packed in two nicely designed boxes. We immediately devoured the cookies. I already started fasting yet the temptation was real. I had to try the cookies, too.

The lavender cookie was something new to me. There were actual lavender flowers sprinkled on top of the cookie. The flavor was strong, and not really to my liking. I think I only liked the lavender aroma, not the flavor.

The milk tea.

And yeah, the milk tea. The kids settled down in their spots and enjoyed their freshly brewed milk tea. Since I did not order for myself, I only had a sip from each of the kids' cups to try. Hmm, since they did not order fancy flavors, there was really nothing special to expect.

Little Man said it tasted like coffee and he was afraid he may not be able to sleep. And they enjoyed munching on the chewy boba. Little Miss said she kinda wish she had more. Kuya said he did not like it a lot at first, but it got better as he had more.

My comment - the serving was small and pricey compared to the boba milk tea shop we went to before. I also wish they had more flavors.

But the kids love it. I think they liked that the shop was nearby and it looked really fancy. And they would like to come and visit again soon!

I guess we will be back.😉

That's the vibe I got from the photos.
I'm not keen on Boba Tea and find the bubbles annoying to drink, but it's good to have quick and easy access to these places and the little one sure seems to enjoy visiting there:)

I get that. Boba could be annoying to sip. lol. On the contrary, that's what these kiddos of mine love. 😁

The candy display case looks beautiful, tempting sweets to the palate. Children usually go for the safe drinks, coffee with milk. Inviting them to try other flavors is not something they dare to do easily. Thank you ☺

They drink coffee with milk from time to time, with breakfast too. But boba milk tea is more like a on-special-occasion-drink only. I do not particularly encourage them, because one it is pricey, hahaha. and two, it could be really, really, sweet.

And yes to the display case. It did it's job. definitely enticing. Got me to order from it and even break my fast for it. Wahhhh.

Greetings friend, what a wonderful experience you share with us and the best thing about it is being able to get out of the house and share some time with the family and in that way be able to have a great time. The place looks very comfortable and perfect to have a great time there, as well as the affordable prices so everyone can enjoy, a great choice for that opportunity and I hope you enjoyed it.

Yes, we enjoyed it -- the evening walk and the tea. It's something that we should do always (the walk, that is!😉)

Ohh, maybe the reason it is kinda expensive us because they used brewed tea? That's maybe their string points right? On that cafe? But it is really small though. And the cookies looks good too. I miss rating cookies, it's been like forever. Lol
