The pile of books, pleaseee

Every time my mum sees me on my phone for a stretched amount of time, she complains. And you know how bad it can be when an African mum unleashes her fury. She says i spend too much time on the screen, and that's why my eyes are bad.
But guess what guys? I had already begun to wear prescribed glasses long before I owned my first phone and my parents never let us use their phones. And you can't say it was the TV because I attended a boarding school and so didn't have access to that until the holidays. So you see!?? I'd tell her that my problem was reading for too long even under dim light. Parents like it when their kids study. Mine do but will never agree to my submission. Lol.

I used to like to read a lot until somewhere along life's way, that habit started to decline until now when I barely read a book in months. If I come across a book, I try to read, but I don't stay and think of it. Maybe it's adulthood happening. What do you think?
I tried ebooks, I liked the comfort it offered and the fact that I had access to almost any book I wanted but it had adverse effect on my eyesight, making me squint from all the concentration on the light and giving me blurry vision. It even gave me a headache, sometimes. Even if we took that aside, the experience wasn't the same for me as with holding my book in my hands and flipping through the pages and taking in the scent. It was a different feeling, and it was a little disengaging for me. Even using a bigger screen, such as a laptop, as opposed to my phone, doesn't make it any better. Thar one is even uncomfortable for someone like me who likes to snuggle up. I get distracted sometimes, too, when I use a device cause notifications from messages, social media apps, and even the movies in my downloads keep calling out to me. It's a battle that the other side mostly wins cause I haven't built a strong resolve around ebooks. But if I was reading from a physical book and these distractions call out to me, best believe I'll conquer. It's like that for me.

Yh, hardcopy books are the actual goat....
I can relate to how mum's freak out whenever they see their child staring at a screen for too long😂

Right! Ebooks just come with its own distractions and I agree. I’m glad you found out what works for you.
