Failing my Autoflowers..

What's up, fellow Weed Lovers and Canna-Fam!? It's #WeedWednesday which means it's time for another update to my 2025 Grow Log!

Honestly, It's been a trying and disheartening week this week with the autoflower plants. After reading the week 5 update of @felixxx grow log, I realized that something was wrong with my autos. Personally, I think that I left them inside for too long underneath my little grow light and it didn't give them any chance to stretch.

By the time I did put them outside, they had already passed that stretching window so I'm pretty sure these plants are just gonna be done for. I didn't really think about it at the time, but I did notice pistils forming, signifying that the vegetative state was now finished and that they wouldn't be growing much more from here on out. You can even see a small top bud starting to form on the Novakane!

I do have a few more seeds for these strains. So I will be able to germinate one more each and then I'll probably try to push them to the end of their life to be able to get some more seeds just to see if I can, because technically it's just a theory. I'm not sure if it is actually true or not. But the breeder that created these auto flowering strains had told me that it is possible and that all cannabis plants will drop seeds when they're pushed to the end of their life cycle in an attempt to carry on their genetics. So that would be pretty cool, if that's the case.

Again, these are like 95 days from seed to harvest. So I have to start the countdown all over again but it's ok, because we're only a month in. We have plenty more time left until winter. I'm just trying not to stay too down about it. Whenever I quit 2 years ago this was kind of the reasoning behind it. I was really discouraged, I didn't feel like I knew what I was doing and I just decided to give up because I just wasn't in the right headspace but that's that's an awesome part about growth. Personal, spiritual, whatever you want to label it as I feel a lot stronger mentally now than I was before.

And I feel like even though these plants failed, it's a good learning experience for me. I can germinate them inside again like I did, but this time just immediately start them out in their big pots. I think the only reason why I didn't was because of how wet and cold it was outside. I didn't know if they would get lost or whatever. I can't even honestly remember why I started them inside other than the fact that I thought it wasn't optimal conditions outside.

So hopefully the next 2 seeds that I start will do a little bit better. These ones looked like they were doing fine other than the burnt leaves they had early on. But they started out strong, so I'm hoping that I can just learn from this mistake and get these two grown!

The photoperiod plants are doing pretty good in my opinion but I guess only time will tell for sure. I started adding used coffee grounds to the soil and they're looking very vibrantly green which I think is really good!

As of now these plants are a little over 6 weeks old, and I'm not exactly sure how long they should take, but I don't have any more of these specific photoperiod seeds so I will be attempting to get some end-of-life seeds out of these babies. I believe these will be like any other photoperiod strain and shouldn't be done until around October, maybe November, depending on how long I have to push them to get those end-of-life seeds.

Other than that, I think the soil is working well. There's new growth on both the Lemon Kush and the Northern Lights x Perfect Circle strains, bright new vibrant green growth so that seems like a good sign that everything is going well with the roots!

The Lemon Kush is still steadily growing 3 leaves at a time, so it definitely is a 3 leaf mutation, which is cool in my opinion, but we'll see if that has any negative side effects on the plant moving forward! And unfortunately, I don't think I'll be trying to clone this specific plant thanks to that mutation so hopefully I get some seeds from her to try again!

I think that's gonna do it for this one, thank you all for checking out my blog, and I hope you enjoyed this update! Next week I hope to have a little bit better news on the autoflower front, so be on the lookout for that! Anyways, I hope you guys have a wonderful rest of your week and I'll see you in the next one!

About making your own seeds:
You can use colloidal silver (or collidal or however it's spelled) to force a branch of the plant to form male flowers. This way you can get a lot of seeds; via inbreeding.
Depending on the genetics, this could be a wildcard, though. (Wrote a whole post about it)

About transplanting autos:
It seems that when the roots have too much resistance or get stunted, the plant might start flowering prematurely (finish before the 95 days it said on the package).
If you are careful enough, and don't touch the roots much, it's ok to transplant. (Did that last year)

About your plants:
Looks like nutrient burn to me. Severely stunted growth.
You fertilized the small seedlings, didn't you?

I have heard about collodial silver before, and I will be looking into that at some point, but I agree on the genetics side that it could be a wildcard (such as with my current Lemon Kush plant.)

About the transplant, I didn't think I was going to have much issues with those peat pots, but I don't think I will be attempting that with autos again!

And yes, I did fertilize/nute the autos. I was worried about a possible deficiency, so I added some used coffee grounds and some banana water. I think the coffee grounds were ok for the nitrogen, but I think the banana water stressed them out and caused the burns.

I was worried about a possible deficiency, so

If they are that small and have so much space to reach out for water and nutrients you do not need to do anything.
...Unless your soil is completely ass or you are growing in inert substrate like coco.

I will definitely keep this in mind from here on out.

I have used old soil in the past, so I can understand why it wasn't an issue then, or maybe it was and I just didn't realize it.

But, since this is new soil that should be nutrient rich, it makes sense that I just burned them up. Thanks for all the advice and support bro, I really appreciate it!

Another reason to hate autos. They're to temperamental.. the slightest change and BAM!! they start flowing at 2 inches tall

Thanks bro! I'm really hopeful that the photoperiods will get massive in the 10 gallon buckets, but we have a while to go before they are done so we will see! :)
