A Fun-gi Walk in the Woods

Fungi have become a favourite pastime of mine to photograph as there are so many different varieties. Speaking to other people, quite a few people seem to enjoy finding them. It feels as though you are on some kind of treasure hunt. It also helps that they're in my favourite habitat, the woods. Sometimes, it's pure luck because they come and go in a matter of days.

I didn’t think I'd find many fungi this week but I was pleasantly surprised to find sulphur tufts, birch polypore, ink caps, fly ageric, and various others.

The fly agarics have gone past their prime. I only found one very weathered one.

This birch polypore was quite big. I could easily have sat on it. It was quite hard but I don't think it would have taken my weight!

I didn't find as many as I usually do. When they've all gone, I'm going to have to find something else to photograph. It's fun while it lasts!

This is my contribution to #fungifriday by @ewkaw.

They are so fascinating aren’t they and I saw a video the other day where a scientist demonstrated how one can play a small instrument! Sounds nuts. Here’s the video.
