Tokyo Night Walk

One of the nice things about having jet lag is being up at early hours of the night/morning and going out on the empty streets of Tokyo.

Growing up in the 80's I grew up with themes of empty cities, devoid of people in movies. There's something alluring about it to me, not in a macabre way, but maybe more of a sci-fi way. Like exploring civilization gone, but everything left behind.

So I fired up Trevor Something on my phone and went out this morning to see what I could find.

As I walked around I thought a lot of things I saw had a vintage feel to them. So for this post I put these images through a filter to give them and 80's vibe, like those scenes I remember from when I was a kid.

I really like the next image. While it's not the best and my shadow creeped in, it brings back memories. 20 years ago you could find these alcohol vending machines fairly easy, but not anymore.

This one is also very cool. It has a dystopian feel to it. With the overgrown grass and the soft glow behind the mansion buildings. A scene out of a zombie movie.

Lastly this one also has an eerie feeling.

What do you think of these images?

Thanks for reading!

Yup. Although I haven't played any games that were focused on Japan. My gaming days are far behind me. Even so, sometimes I fell like I am living in a fantasy world here.

Not only the field but also the vending machine reveal it’s a different part of Tokyo from me 🤣
I like those areas though! My area feels more and more overcrowded

Ya, the burbs of Tokyo. It's nice out here because we're so close to the mountains.

Wow the Japanese vending machines are so old. Stuck in the 90s even 80s. And they all seem to still use cash in Japan and they hate bitcoin and digital money unlike China lol Japan stopped innovating
